green lurchers 16,866
think its fare to say theres more emphasis on a proven sire in horses as quite often proven sires are bred to unproven mares that hold a decent line but sometimes don't see a track , theres always a freak who pops up sir percy being one of those ,he was bought for 16,000 gns to go hurdling , bred from speed to heavy stamina line as a 2 yr old he showed more than enough speed to win a few short races then went on to win the derby at a 1m 4f Edited June 8, 2016 by green lurchers Quote Link to post
green lurchers 16,866
just red up on halling i was wrong he had plenty of races very sucsesful horse halling was a good animal bumped into one of the best in bosra sham another of my faves trained by the late henry cecil, bosra sham being one of those with a champion sire line bred to unproven on the track dam line Edited June 8, 2016 by green lurchers 1 Quote Link to post
stone rose 353
yeh thats very true i dont think its switchd the other way unless it was a stallion that was untrainable but with fantastic blood lines and owners were willing to take a chance i did actually put a dog to my coursing bitch swoop which had never realy had a coursing careaer but his bloodlines were right in my eyes and produced a litter full of match winners to put the record straight beany wasent a great coursing dog his bloodlines were great though so put to a bitch which was a proven producer and a fantastic coursing dog you end up as i said with a litter of champions 1 Quote Link to post

roybo 2,873
Think it's fair to say a good bitch (along with a good stud) is crucial. But the mating needs to click. That's where the skill or luck lies. Putting the two together 2 Quote Link to post
