Are you overseas? Suppose if youre getting it for 40p a litre and getting 15 mpg that's the same as me getting 40mpg give or take. Why's the 0-60 like on something like that? 400bhp is a fair bit of poke but like you say it's a heavy truck. Bet it still shifts?

Bet it still shifts? yes, i moved over seas just over a year ago now to Canada for south east England.....land of the big engines and big trucks, the fuel here is really cheap to buy, i filled up the other day from a quarter of a tank to full and it cost £34...... my motor 0-60 is 6.90 secs which is pretty respectable for a truck of 2 1/2 ton, but my mates got the ram SRT/10 which is 0-60 in 5.2 secs......again, it's a truck, with my truck, there are a few things you can do to soop it up, but mine is standard, it's restricted to 110 mph but if you lift the restriction and tune them...you can get it to 140/150 mph..... I take it you are settling in? yeah.....we've settled in fine and dandy thanks mate, the last year has flown by...looking to move towards the end of this year (hopefully) over to BC.....fingers cross, motoring here is very reasonable, like i say fuel 40p litre, tax is £17.50 a year, and insurance we had to start from scratch as they didn't reckonise our no claims which is £1300 for two trucks which obviously goes down each year, vat is 5%, but tyres here are mega bucks, but it balances up ok,

trigger2 3,145
ive been driving the ford focus estates tdci for the last 3 years great cars reliability wise cheap parts aswell compared to the peugoet hdi's i use to drive they were great cars when going well but i had no end of problems with electrics on them. on the plus side they had loads of boot space and great ground clearence. i thought the parts were expensive aswell. ive looked at the octavia estates they hold there money well so i couldnt really afford what i wanted. my mechanic told me to go for a ford estate or the skoda and always edged towards the skoda. so my betting is skoda would be the best way forward they are nice enough looking cars aswell. Funny how folk see things difrent,,,I always thought stuff was cheap on ours,,,mind I always got everything from the breakers i got my cambelt kit fitted on my focus for the same price as just the cam kit and water pump for a puegoet mate thats a saving straight off. i think they are generally easier to work on aswell which makes things a little cheaper. jigsaw 11,865
quiet understandable tilly ,if i owned a truck like that id be proud as fuk about it too,I think im going to see either a toyota avensis ,or a mondeo, ive spoken to a few mechanics and they reckon the passats are good until they go wrong ,then they cost a bomb to fix...reliability im told here is either mondeo or avensis... https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2007-avensis-d4d-estate/12406817 something similar to this I think...
fifeman 164
Ive allways tended to have a second motor for the dogs, allways used to have vans. But in todays climate I think they cause to much suspicion driving around at daft o, clock. Had quite a few estates, had a few astra estates and allways been good, last was one was a 1.7cdti and was very cheap to run on derv. Another decent one was a volvo diesel v40, was bombproof and good on derv too. Had a subaru forester, cracking car but very thirsty on petrol. After reading this thread the mazda 6 diesel estates sound worth a punt and right money, any mechanic's on here can give there views on them ? I o like the passats tho, nice big deep boot and with the roller blind parcel shelf, stops nosey parkers looking in motor.
