Why are your employers obliged to help you with your family related stress issue ?

its company policy to help out employees with issues pal . They are very good like that . If you have a drink or drug problem they will even pay for rehab and you can pay them back a few quid a week out of your wages

They sound like a good firm, willing to help people with genuine issues mate........all this "not followed procedure" is quiet another thing.........a load of old bollocks in laymans terms !

WILF if an employee does not follow procedure then the HR can and do drop on them like a ton of bricks just from seeing it up front being t.u.p.e d. over to a new company that did not want to give its employees the same T&Cs even thou they had agreed to do so when they bid for the contract. I never thought managers within a large company could be so devious and lie as they did, good job the lads they wanted rid of stuck together and had the help a good union rep. Just one more thing I ran my own little business for twenty years and I had no issue with any of my workers when they went sick just showed concern and trusted them I feel that this created a good relationship with the lads and don't think any took the pee .But I can see how things can get out of hand if you think you have no one to turn to for help and advice when you come up against a brick wall when following procedure and the managers keep moving the goal posts so think on Wilf not every one is a scrounger you can have poor management as well as poor workers.a.t.b.

One of the reasons I never, ever wanted to employ full time people !!   I will tell what stress is, it's trying to keep a firm going and feed your own kids while you pay someone not to come to work

Before you see the doctor for stress, have a little think. How will the fact that you have suffered stress impact on your life style. If you hold a SGC or FAC you could possibly lose them. A lot of em

how about if its not working for an absolute bellend of a company or person (where the answer should be just find another job) try growing some balls and sorting yourself out, stress is something we a

Funny how people who work for people see things completely different to people who employ people.

Both would be f****d without the other, ive seen enough people taking the piss over the years to be wary of everyone tbh, if your so called mates will try it on if they can.

Love the "us and them" mentality too, I've found the more you give the more certain folks will take the piss, and call you a c**t behind your back into the bargain, normally you know, they're pretty transparent tbh...

Any advice on the best way to word a case for getting signed of with stress.

Cheers in advance

I think this opening gambit says it all. People who want some time off go for stress because its an easy one to fake. I cant sleep doc, Im not eatin doc. Bollox. Where theres blame theres a claim. No better than those scamming benefits in my book. Sick leave is for sick people and this right is fooked up by people like you. If you were stressed enough to require the time off you wouldnt be on here asking about the symptoms.

Do the right thing, Jack, get another job and move on.

I'd love to get some time off for stress, f**k knows it's stressful enough... Problem is I wouldn't be paid for it, my missus has been pretty ill for over 5 years, not received a penny for that either, back in for another hefty operation next Thursday, runs her own place so just suck it up and get on with it.

I don't know the ins and outs of the op's situation but it would piss me off if one of my lads were on here asking for best ways to get off work for "stress", then the doctor awarding it stinks too IMO...

The council run the kids home I been on placement at. If your off sick you get full pay for first 6 months. They're paid quite well at about £12 an hour.

There's a few who take piss, one woman is terrible. Does almost exactly six months off, then comes back for mere days, barely even a week, then goes back on sick for another 6 months.

Everyone knows that they're taking the piss!

There used to be over 20 homes, now there's less than 5. All been privatised. The private ones pay the staff about £6 an hour and offer no sick pay/benefits etc.

It's the wankers who exploit it that shoot not only themselves in the foot, but ruin a good thing for every other person there!

I've been off with stress in the past n it aint nice and I had a genuine case. Couldn't wait to sack it in and leave. If your that disgruntled then leave. They'll soon find someone who'll do your job and be greatful for the work.

problem with this thread is he openly come here to ask what he should say to his doctor to get time off, if he has genuine problems he should not need advice from anyone over what to say so to me he is a using wanker out to screw his employer for as much as he can, twats who do this f**k things up for the ones who really need support to return to their jobs and get their life back together, and before you twats start slagging me off for having that attitude take this into consideration, I've been a mechanic for 25 years, eventually that job f****d up my shoulders and I ended up having bits chopped out to get them to work again, the boss at the first job where this crap started looked after me well and even now i would cut his lawn with a pair of nail scissors to repay how he looked after me, a later employer had the piss taken out of him and at the first sign of trouble I was out on my arse as soon as he could do it legally and i`m still off work waiting for surgery, system works both ways (and if I was his boss and saw this he`d get the post code for the nearest jobcentre)

I left a job 12months ago now after 10 years working away in the last 12 months of been there the work started slowing down and the gaffer was robbing money of the lads ie we add a bonus and he would just take it out your wages and say you was late 5/10 minutes or some shit exuse like that. It was all above board what he was doing apparently as it was a bonus on are hourly rate. There's was 3 of us that stood together and started questioning him every Friday are wages was wrong he didn't like it and started treating us like dirt. It lasted 2 months till we get fooked off with so the 3 of us found another job and dropped the old gaffer in it by just leavening. That fooked him off but made us 3 feel hell of a lot better in are selfs. And not 3weeks ago we a phone call yes off the old gaffer asking if we would go back as he was stuck for lads that new the job and the tickets to do it (scaffolding for the power lines) we all laughed at him and thanks but no thanks and put the phone down. Was even happier knowing he was stuck for lads after treating us like c**ts
