c1j1r 62
Just wondering how people price jobs for pest control ? Per rabbit/mole/squirrel/ fox or by the hour ? Or any other method ? Cheers Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,844
Don't ever have a set price. Don't ever ask other people what they charge or what the going rate is. Work out what it will cost you. Use experience to work out the pro's and con's of the job. Work out what you need to earn. Come up with your own price. 3 Quote Link to post
c1j1r 62
I understand that ,one mans price will differ from anouther for different reasons distance traveled ect.. But I was just after a rough guide as to what other people charge. I've been asked to get rid of some rabbit that are digging up a large lawn, there's a fence bordering the garden and that's where there coming in so snaring them is the best option. I make the snares myself so there's no cost in that but I obviously take my own time making them, the job is about a mile away from where I am so no distance really, but struggling on what to charge and was wondering roughly how people work out how they do it? Per rabbit ,time on the job ect Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,844
Odd few rabbits on a garden is the hardest of all jobs to price I think. I'm not belittling you or being a miserable git. Try and work your own price out. Don't rely on others. You need to work out how much time your going to invest and have the confidence to charge. It's part of your journey to being a pest controller. 1 Quote Link to post
c1j1r 62
I understand what your saying but like you said it is a difficult one,I don't want to offend the employer by quoting a high price but at the same time don't want to undercut myself, your right though it's something I will have to figure out and see what happens I think I will charge for time spent and extra for every rabbit that's caught on top of that? Giro 2,648
Put a rabbit proof fence in and a drop box.. Then you could put a heafty bill in.. Quote Link to post
myersbg 1,385
It's a learning curve that we have all been through, when you start up there are going to be times when you will take a hit, you will learn from that. I think its a bit cheeky to ask people that you will be competing with what to charge. just my opinion. Quote Link to post
c1j1r 62
I'm not a pest controller,it's a one off job,but if someone asks me to get rid of a pest as a paid job of course I'm going to do it ? I don't see how asking people's opinion is cheeky but sorry if I offended you in some way pal, giro that's not a bad idea... Quote Link to post

TOMO 26,503
Trouble is with garden rabbits,, the client thinks you will come,,,kill some rabbits,,,end of problem,,,,, Not going to happen,,,,it needs proofing,,,,fencing out,,,, Another thing some folk will do,,,is get a bit of chicken wire,,,and think it will work,,,it needs to be higher than most folk think,,rabbits can jump over fences quite well... 1 Quote Link to post
shropshire mole 190
How much do you want for each visit? if your happy with a tenner to check snares and reset, then charge £10 per visit. If you want more then charge what you would be happy with. Would you be happy with £50, for the complete job, then charge £50 Will you have to pay tax? if so charge to cover this. Unless you are doing this job for fun/experience, you need to be making some profit, to help with living Charging per rabbit is ok, as long as you are good at what you do and are plenty of rabbits.. Could always email/phone others locally and ask what they would charge for such a job. Are you able to carry out proofing work to the fence? if so then there is more money to be had ATB Quote Link to post
c1j1r 62
Yes more than capable to sort the fencing and that seems to be the best route to go down thinking about it,so i will price up materials and add how much I will charge for my labour, pretty simple really I know but I was just interested on how other people go about pricing jobs, thanks to those that were helpful.cheers ? DIDO.1 22,844
Once you have done the fencing you can catch rabbits whenever you like, leave a few pop holes in the wire for snares Quote Link to post
