gwalchmai4110 1,757
well after looking on here and seeing various lads posts on exploring the countryside now in summer, I thought I had better drag my fat carcass somewhere. I set my alarm for 4am Saturday morning and planned to go down and climb corn du, and pen y fan in the Brecon beacons. I thought at this time in the morning I would have the mountain to myself with the two pot lickers, but as I arrived there just after 5am it was obvious by the large amounts of people wearing sporting gear that there was an event of some sort........bollocks!! so as not to be deterred I decided to head another two hours on to the pegyms. these are fairly local to me in the grand scheme of things and as I had my young bitch in tow I decided these soft peaks were not a bad shout. it is a large area of hilly ground and no-one ever seems to be there so I thought this would be perfect. it proved to be a superb exercise for the young un as there was stock every where up there and the mountain sheep just seemed to dance invitingly in front of the youngster desperate to undo all the stock training I had done but "thorn" continued unwavered. there was also a large amount of fences, some sagging and some very high so again the pup got to try her hand at these which she managed no bother. there was a lot of scent of the various bits and bobs that reside there and this kept both "thorn" and "sika" ticking over while I huffed and puffed myself toward the peak I was heading for. but we managed it and we sat in the heather on top and had our breakfast before heading back to beat the heat. I was very impressed with the young bitch as nothing seems to phase her and finally she seems to be coming around to my way of thinking but the two useless feckers were a pleasure to be around today! sorry for shite pictures I will invest in a camera one of these days. atb 18 Quote Link to post
