Looking Back On Life

My gran allways used to say.

Drink is the root of all evil.

Drink is what killed my grandfather.the back yard had flooded due to bust water main.

Gran was in hospital.i got home at 18yr old.10pm.water lapping at the back door step.it was like a pond out there.

It was very dark there.i was on the bucket throwing water onto the lawn when something caught my eye floating towards me I looked it was my grandfather face down dead.

So my gran was right.

And that's my biggest regret.going out that night.i should of stayed in.

 

 

on a similar note my gran had a stroke and was in hospital and when i visited as I left she said terry i am scared and I said don't worry you be fine and kept going and that night she passed away. Was like a mum to me. Would give any thing to have turned round and stayed with her

Some of my teachers loved to take out there frustrations on us as kids. All had there different methods.

Wrapping you on the head with knuckles, smashing heads together, metre ruler on the knuckles, black board rubber thrown at you,cane, the slipper and not forgetting the humiliation!

Ahhh, them were the days lol ?

I hated most of them, but thankfully one or two were fantastic, who inspired you, thanks Mr Eastman :-)

No regrets, I'm very happy with who I am and the lovely people in my life :-)

I had a Games teacher pretty much like every other one - a dangerous psychopath, with an obvious hatred of children ! He would chase miscreants with a spiked running shoe, and twat them across the ar5e if he caught them !! He couldn't be bothered to learn anyone's name, so he just called everyone "laddie". A charming fellow........

 

On the other hand, I had a Chemistry teacher, Mr Swords, who holds nothing but fond memories (in a non-Operation Yewtree kind of way !). He had a mop of curly black hair and often wore a green corduroy suit with a watch chain. He was a proper eccentric-type, funny and engaging, and clearly loved his job. I suppose most importantly, I can remember a lot of what he taught me, best part of 40 years later !

 

As for life in general, if I had my time over again, I'd make all the same mistakes......just sooner !

At 52 look back at school days they were strict if you messed up you got punished no problem with that although some went a bit over the top. Made mistakes same as everyone else you have to live with them. A few job opportunities along the way didnt take them thought i knew better looking back maybe i didnt.

I'm on 33 but have lots of regrets . I regret ever having my first drink and the damage its done to my body and family .I regret being nice to certain people in the dog world who stabbed me in the back . The biggest regret I have though has always being alcohol . Lost my appendix and and few inches of my pancreas from being an alcoholic and nearly lost my wife's and kids but thankfully I had a second chance and grabbed the bull by the horns

ive made mistakes in life ,but ive paid the price for the things wrong that ive done ,if i had my life over again id pick my friends more carefully and be a lot more carefull with my money,3 marriages has cost me a lot but ive 3 grown up kids who have all done well for them selves ,im just happy none of them took the path i did,but the greatest gift is life im still here not like a lot of my friends who have been shot or stabbed like the great viv graham ,his life was taking by cowards

Regrets,i've had a few but then again too few to mention,i did what i had to do and saw it through without exemption,i planned each chartered course................But i never make a f***ing song and dance about them like sinatra,its a shallow life lived without scars,we are who we are because of the bumps and knocks on our journeys,only thing i would change?Dont get caught.

Born 1954. High school where had to whack a maths teacher for smacking me on the head with a rule stick. Expelled at 15 and left home. Never looked back. Haven't asked or been given anything. You make life what you can. In my opinion.

Regrets, yes but regrets are for the past, make the best of what you've got, there's always someone worse off.
