Born Hunter 17,763
How does it work if you have a sandwich at 12 o clock and a roast dinner at 6 o clock then. Have you had a sandwich for your dinner and a roast for your tea ? ............do yous ask the ol woman to send you off to work with a nice sausage sandwich for your packed dinner ? We don't eat roasts past about 3pm. It's incompatible with our dialect! And I have to make my own sarnies, lol. To be honest, I say lunch a lot now but it bugs me that I have been converted. Maybe it's because the world's so much smaller these days with the Web and TV and ease of relocation. There's not so much regional isolation and dialects cross with some parts getting lost for whatever social reasons. Well that's what I reckon.

"Can you do me a sarnie for my pack up? Tar" Yorkshire colliers called it snap. As in snap time. My Dad used to have a tin snap box. Apparently they needed it to be tin to stop the mice from getting in dah'n t'pit . The Geordie lads called it bait.
