What Can A Grand Buy Me?

Recommended Posts

Just a quick one to offer an apology from a few day's back. Nothing aimed at you in person. I'd had a couple of Babycham's and talk as if i'm in the local with mates..

Anyway, I've served my time (3 days) lol, and publicly hang my head in shame!!

There's a good bunch of lads in this section and that's how you want to keep it.

Hope no harm's done..?

Here you go......   http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/337632-theoben-22/?do=findComment&comment=3071628   And a second hand bottle your sorted for £650.

Might be worth saying what you are going to be shooting which might give the guys a better idea what to suggest, such as hunting generally, ratting in a farmyard, range work etc.   Phil

Good man.

Please if you don't mind.

I've got an Evo that I've had from new, brought about 8 year back now.

Been fancying a PCP for a little while and a mate has set me off with his hw 100.

I don't do loads of shooting. Just a bit of corvid bashing.

I mentioned a grand just to keep things realistic. Thought it would be interesting to see who recommends what for the same amount of money.

So.. gun, scope and bottle/pump.. ??

I will recommend a Rapid Mk2.

Regulated. Consistent and good shot count. Easy to work and plenty of aftermarket parts are available.

£600-£800

Charging gear £100 - £200

Loads of makes out there that will give you top performance for that amount and a lot less. Goof luck and have fun looking and with all the recommendations,. Mine is the one that fits you not only physically but also mentally.

All the best

Rapid mk2 eh, I'll have a look into them. Must have been decent kit the old Theobens.

I have got an issue about having things from new though. I reckon it's just for peace of mind knowing nothing's been tampered with.

I really do like the look of the R10 mk2.

Shrouded barrel. Big shot count and all that.

Anything else??

A scope for £200-250??

Aye. Finding an unmolested example which has been tuned by the best gunsmith in the uk ( or so your told! ), can be taxing.

Apologies but I'm not getting into the scope debate. I'm not a fan of hawke scopes but they seem to work for most and that will be a common suggestion.

I've not had much to do with the R10 but a lot do rate them and hopefully you will get an unbiased review.

HW100, round my way you can pick a new one up for under £700, which leaves a few quid for bipod stud set (front screw is replaced by one with a QD top), bipod, scope, cylinder....

That is if you have to have new...

Else do what Moxy says!

Any chance of a pic of the screw you need to change for when I get my hw100 thanks.

Not in the gun no, mine is out of the gun, but it is very easy to find.

Look at the barrel band, towards the end of the forestock about midway long the barrel, turn barrel over to reveal a hex head bolt that has been sunk into the walnut. Undo this bolt and replace with the one with the QD stud on it, simple as!

Phil

I thought I'd mentioned it earlier on Phil. Almost exclusively corvids and the odd bonus squirrel. All on the 'hoof' so to speak. No hides or anything. I don't do lot's of shooting by any means, I just fancy a new toy! LOL..

Looking back, I think I may have worded the initial question wrong.

I kind of wanted to know, if you experienced fellas on here got shut of all your gear and had to set yourselves up from scratch, with a grand. No more.

Gun. Scope. Bottle.

I was hoping for some varied answers, obviously all tailored to your own individual needs and preferences.

Like moxy said with the rapid and his preference to avoid the Hawk scopes.

Surly most folks are going to go for different combos... that's the beauty of it!!
