pesky1972 5,307
Must confess that when I think of WWI I usually only think of the land battle in the trenches and the huge losses of life at the likes of the Somme. I usually associate sea & air battles more with the second war. Forget the huge losses the naval & merchant fleets suffered. Jutland must have been a horrendous event and a terrible way to go. Deker 3,478
Wars have killed so many over the years but WW1 was generally recognised as the first war of mechanised mass slaughter. Incredibly bravery in the face of almost certain death for so many. Why on earth can't mankind learn to live together peacefully?
Born Hunter 17,780
I think I read the RN lost 14 ships in that one battle. That's more than our entire modern frigate fleet and over double our destroyer fleet!

I just wonder how many know of Jack Cornwell and as stated each and every one of all those other brave blameless on both sides.
johnny boy68 11,726
Watched a show that Dan Snow did, they were pinpointing the wrecks. A fair few went down that day. RIP one and all.
