Lloyd90 509
Alright folks, I've been looking at the Hw97k for a while but recently spotted a AA tx200 HC for sale second hand on another site and see they're very similar spec etc. Anyone picked up and big difference , things to watch out for etc ? Cheers Lloyd 1 Quote Link to post
PeskyWabbits 464
Get ready for the tide of opinions...... Both great so you won't go wrong whichever you choose. TX is generally better from new whereas the HW benefits from running in or a tune up. The TX is slightly lighter and the stock more supportive and better looking and finished. Bluing usually better as well. HW easier to load and potentially bomb proof. I've had both but prefer the TX, or get a Pro Sport as that is even better and you see these as cheap second hand. mattwhite 1,993
Just kidding pal. The build quality on both is outstanding and you can tweak how smooth you want them to run very easily with various drop in kits if you so choose. There are 97 lads on here and tx lads also so there will be a mixture of opinions. My advice...shoot both and see what YOU prefer??? Quote Link to post
bilbobagins 92
As above nowt to choose between them build wise and shooting wise all down to personal choice how it looks and feels to you Quote Link to post
barrywhite 282
i have both i like them both so i got one of each its the only way . Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,558
TX comes ready tuned, the build is that good from the factory. The 97 does not but as the lads above mentioned benefits greatly from tuning. TX has won a good few HFT competitions and World HFT twice, the 97 has not. See which fits you best Lloyd, both are highly respected springers. atb Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
Targets AA TX , hunting HW97k in either .177 or .22 easer to load in the field and with a quick polish on the internals even better Quote Link to post
myersbg 1,385
Personally i have not tried the 97, i have a tx 200, crap to load, far too heavy, it puts the pellet exactly where you want it to go, but for work it does not suit me, i found my webley longbow does the job just as good, but i also have a theoban rapid in 22. Hence the TX is for sale. 3 Quote Link to post

David123 14
Or get a prosport But in seriousness. Go and fell what they are like. Shoot both and like others have said see what suits you the best 1 Quote Link to post
philpot 5,005
I have just gone through this same process TX vs Prosport vs 97. I tried out the 97 and TX a few minutes apart and preferred the TX, just felt nicer to shoot but pellet loading is a bit finicky on the TX however you quickly get the feel for it. I am very much on a learning curve with the TX and slowly improving with a fair way to go but for me the TX seemed a better buy. You may pick up the 97 and say it feels far better, if possible, try before you buy. Phil 1 Quote Link to post
bigmac 97kt 13,800
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY is the best statement you have been given as what may suit one will not suit another atvbmac  1 Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Falcongit bought a 97 and it was spot on out of the box, I shot it my self. It was a shade better than my 77, sort of an upgrade. The TX is also a good gun, shot a couple but not lived with one, so my money would go on the 97. Quote Link to post
