There's a big difference between a dog looking fit and actually being fully fit!! A good pitbull and coursing man told me that once when I showed him one of my dogs that looked in top shape and it's true....look at bodybuilders, not as strong as a powerlifter and definitely no track athlete/12 round boxer etc and at the end of the day these are running dogs not bred to look the part but to do it. Hats off to anyone that puts in the graft to get a dog in that shape but the dog I mentioned always worked better heavier and not looking so ripped. Food for thought ??

Well I can assure you this dog is fit as I've said he's not sat in a pen he's always out gets plenty of exercise last season he would go all night lamping hours on end.

Wasn't aimed at you or your dog! Was just stating that from someone that's had match dogs go 2hours plus and coursing dogs win all sorts that looking good doesn't indicate working good.

Dog looks fu**in superb Kieran not carrying an ounce of fat, I really can't understand why some people always criticise other people's dogs although you have already explained how the dog works. I wouldn't even bother mate the pic says it all to me in a different class to many others I have seen ATB

I do understand where some come from about genetics an stuff but seriously this dog can get fat I've had him like it just didn't run as well as he does when he's slim an fit, I put a lot of work into him to get him looking decent also keeps myself fit at same time, it's my first lurcher so I want to do my very best with him. He works outstanding day/night he might not be some peoples cup of tea but he is mine, next season will be big numbers I'm hoping lost count on how many rabbits he caught this season 100's an the rest. Il have people off here vouch for him come September off here. Cheers ?

Looks a handy sort.... Best of luck with the young un!

My plans for the summer consist mainly of trying to forget I own any dogs!

I've had mine looking like sculptures in the past.... Still bloody useless! Lol

I think the main point ,is the dog is well fed and looked after,it's summer and I wouldn't expect a dog to be 'fit' this time of year as a dog can't keep peak fitness for 12 months a year it would be detrimental to the dog .As come December a dog would be knackered.

But keeping them something like won't hurt them . And stands them in good steed when you need them to start.

Back to summer plans...let the dogs take it easy ,repair and rest, get the runs and garden sorted ,then start getting them fit come end of August ,maybe do a bit of camping
