Legal precedent means that laws that may be many, many years old remain relevant to the modern day. If this were not so, our legal system would be stuck in the Dark Ages, still based on myth and superstition. A backward and introverted view of the world would be imposed on its subjects, and brutal punishments imposed on anyone who dared to question the ruling authority. I'm just thankful that this doesn't exist in the world today ! Oh, hang on.......... If you feel the urge to live in a miserable, mediaeval, alcohol-free, wife-beating, public beheading, murder-your-daughter-because-she-brought-shame-on-you,death-threat-issuing Sharia-run 5hit hole, there are still a few to choose from !
