roybo 2,873
If I ever breed another litter I'd hope the majority would have homes before I bred. Or else not breed . If you have 8 spare pups going for £400, By the time they was 8 weeks and still here the price would drop sharpish when no one calls with any interest I was lucky when I bred there was more wanting that pups she had,so was able to turn some away who I wasn't sure of ,but on the whole they went to decent homes and am still in touch with every one. 2 Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
That's brilliant if you have 6 or 7 pups but falls a bit short when you have 12 ........ Quote Link to post

roybo 2,873
Just saying if you breed a litter ,to put the word out before you breed as it is nice to now you have a fair few homes before hand. I had enough homes for 10 and turned some away and then one dropped out and one came back ,thankfully she had 7 Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
I originally had homes for nine but as you know had 12 then two people pulled out so unless I was psychic there wasn't much I could do about it ..... Quote Link to post

roybo 2,873
I was simply referring to what I'd do if I bred again socks But as you say the odd litter does throw 12 or so and throws a spanner in the wheel of your plans... Good luck hope they get the homes they deserve. And the lads that have them keep you posted 1 Quote Link to post

desertbred 5,490
A good stock man knows or should know the quality of his stock and its value. Socks knows what hes got and he knows £160 is not a true value, but hes not motivated by money he earns enough from his dogs in his profession. Quality is not something that comes along everyday and to me breeding should be primarily about trying to improve lines. Traditionally we some times gift the odd dog but excess are usually culled. In the UK however its the norm to sell, if I was to breed alitter they would be sold for the price I consider they are worth, to the most suitable owners The money would be donated somewhere, Unfortunately their are to many chancers in the dog game especially the coursing game and stock is punted with £ signs the criteria, Very few are interested in improving blood lines just trying for numbers AND A NAME on the door 5 Quote Link to post

RossM 8,119
Without reading 10 pages £150 dog or bitch and that could be up for negotiation depending on home. 1 Quote Link to post
