king 11,972
£200 what you been smoking gazYou don't reckon well bred and well reared pups are worth that mate? Serious? It was meant as a joke gaz lol.To be honest I would pay upto about £400 odd for a pup if it was out of parents that were doing what I wanted the pup to do. And wouldn't moan about paying that either. I would rather walk around lamping for 1 season than walk about with 400 in my pocket and no dog.money is just that gaz.easy come easy go. Snifferboy 659
I think £160 is cheap for a pup, especially one of those pups... I asked for £250 for mine, I took the highest price for similar breeding I could find and the lowest and pitched them in the middle, I didn't do it for the money as I wanted a pup for myself and one for my dad, but by the same token I wasn't going to give them away for nothing... Nobody quibbled and all of the pups went to great homes. I would think nothing of parting with a weeks wages for one yours... 2 Quote Link to post
Maximus Ferret 2,063
250 is a fair price the way look at it its a working animal and if its well bred and decent the endless sport it gives you 250 is fechakll really fech i would pay athousand if i thought they would turn out like rex lana etc sol ,catching thousands of game back when it was legal , a dogs worth what it can do in the feild and the time the man has put in to breed them etc , now if its just any thing to anything then well its aflip of a cion , but if got years of good dogs bred for generaitions well ou got to pay for that at times , you buy a cheap hammer 5 pound you buy an estwing 40 pound , dogs are simliar , That makes a lot of sense but a to go a bit off the subject, why don't you have Tweed as your username? You're well north of the Tyne. 1 Quote Link to post
Maximus Ferret 2,063
is the price of a pup not governed by stud fee? Not in my eyes , id pay the stud fee just for the pup id be keeping and not worry about getting the money back from the pups .. Fancy a game of cards sometime Chid? 1 Quote Link to post
virge05 40
i personally think £200 -£300 is a fair price if you want a good strong ,healthy dug that comes from proven workin stock an is gonna av the best start to its workin life from good breedin then money isnt the issue for me..opefully that dug will give u many years of huntin that no amount of money cood ever buy an loyal companionship that is priceless...at the end of the day if you dont wanna pay the dollar you cant really want the dug.. i got me pup fer £250 an i dont regret a penny of it..nige is 7mths old an i easily ad 250 quids worth of good times wit him already..appy days 2 Quote Link to post
Maximus Ferret 2,063
I've found this thread more interesting than any on the forum for the last few weeks. The most telling post IMHO was the one pointing out that the cheapest working dogs (ie. lurchers and terriers) are the most common breeds to be found in rescue centres by far, (except for pure mongrels which are even cheaper) Think about it. Good luck with the litter Socks. Hope you get good homes for them. 1 Quote Link to post
nothernlite 18,080
Decent price for very good quality pups 1 Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
It's a fine line I suppose between selling them so cheap that anyone with £50 in their pocket is tempted to go and get one when they don't really need or want another dog, and them being £500 and being financially out of reach for the lad who really wants one and would offer it a fantastic home long term and work the dog hard. I think £160 is a steal for these pups. I can't see their being alot of profit in them by the time they have been wormed, chipped and fed proper food for 6-8 weeks. 2 Quote Link to post
Bush Rummager 4,571
If one of my mate's tried to gift me a pup... I'd still shove 150 notes in his hand as a thank you... You've bred them...and weaned then. Here's a drink mate.... 9 Quote Link to post
