is the price of a pup not governed by stud fee?

Not in my eyes , id pay the stud fee just for the pup id be keeping and not worry about getting the money back from the pups ..

As I've said in the past, I've never paid more than £150 (all useless potlickers),but if there was a certain pup from a breeding I liked then I'd have to pay what was asked.

Put "from the so and so dog" before the actual breeding and charge a grand a pup!

Some times you get what you pay for sometimes you dont, no one is forced into buying a dog or a pup, People who are into certain pass times should understand what they are into e.g someone likes cars understand cars and their values same with dogs , a good stock man should be able to differentiate between bull shit and sales hype, Breeding and history of the litter help to sort the wheat from the chaff and shortens the odds regarding getting something chancey able to do what you want. Prices put into context people pay £150 for a pair of Sunglasses (for Summer coursing) , £200 for a good pair of boots but some whinge about £3/400 for a pup its a strange world , if you cant afford whats being asked dont buy it and find something more suited to you and your needs.

Personally, if/when I breed a litter I will gift pups to the people that I know want one and will look after them. Any that I have to advertise will be around the £200 mark.

 

If I was after a pup from a particular litter then I would pay anything up to a grand really. I don't see that as big money for something that's gonna work for you for 8-10 years plus.

 

Like someone said above, lads will pay £200 for a deerhunter jacket, £400 for the best lamps and lithium batteries, £1000 for a motor to go lamping in but ask them for £100 for the dog and they don't want to pay it.

i was lucky that my litter recently went to lads who'd had ones before from me 4 years ago or has seen that litter go and had got to know me.

I didnt want anything for pups and made that clear, but every one of them insisted on giving me something - i was happy with that but happier that they were going to good homes - you cannot put a price on that or the friendships you make through hunting.

The money shouldnt be the biggest thing when looking for a pup,though I dont see why people should rear surplus pups to give them to strangers for nothing. The last few litters I have bred I have killed the surplus,but if I was selling I think 200 would be about right to cover the time/cost etc. I do think that when money starts getting too high then the money becomes the focal point of the breeding. After all this is sport not an industry. .Money is the ruination of all sport imo For what Ive spent on dogs kennels and everything else I would be much better in pocketr if I just bought pups in as i need them over the years,but Its more than double the pleasure for me to breed them aswell as work them. There is never any guarantee that a gifted or sold pup will go to a so called good home. The only way you can guarantee a whelp not ending up in a miserable state is to put it down,other than that all you can do is hope and ask that it be brought back if its not wanted in future.

its his type that's keeping peddlers in business, if the prices of dogs came down it would do away with pedlars and farms

 

idiot.i'm very fussy about what i buy i certaintly don't keep peddlers in business.happy to pay more for a dog if it had the best upbringing.if i bred a litter i would also be happy to gift them all to responsible people.not to you though because a tight tw4t like you will try to save a few pounds by buying the cheapest dog food,prob save a few pounds going without wormers and other expenses.if i saw a litter advertised on the internet for £100 it would seem to me the breeder just wants them gone to anybody,just as long as there gone.thats not good breeding and i would be thinking what other shortcut the breeder's made,thats why i would be suspicious.

Here in Aus they average 150-200 pound paid 150 for my pup a bargain in my opinion I would of paid double that for a life long friend.

Well it seems that I am on the same wave length of most on here the pups will be sold at £150 plus £10 which is to cove the cost of the microchip you now have to have before selling a pup so the massive grand total is going to be £160 per pup ........
