mark williams 7,558
Rained off today so had a couple of hours practice in the drizzle as you do I enjoyed it anyway. A little too wet to gain much from it but it`s fun. Two tidy groups at 45 yds for a springer or any gun for that matter - 5p coin size. atb 8 Quote Link to post
mattwhite 1,993
Bloody hell Mark. That's what you call raising the bar pal. I'm pretty sure my groups won't look like that with tx off my sticks. I will need to practise more I think? 3 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,558
We all should practice regularly,- if you don't, it will catch up with you. For me, the T Rex "rocks" on Primos sticks but don't get fooled into distance shooting, keep under 40 yds,- under 35 yds is much better ! Learn fieldcraft, not distance (in my opinion) atb 4 Quote Link to post

philpot 5,014
I agree, the trigger sticks really suit the TX and I'm off to the range this afternoon to see how I go on. If I can get a good group at 25mt, I will be tempted to take it on the perm and set up some more targets there at longer ranges......................................practice practice practice. Airgun 0
Can I ask how you rest your tx on the sticks and any tips for using them thanks Quote Link to post
philpot 5,014
Just sit the forend on the 'V' of the sticks and hold the trigger grip with your left hand, if right handed. I don't touch the gun with my left hand at all. Mark is much better than me so I dare say he will be along to offer better guidence. Phil Quote Link to post
mattwhite 1,993
As philpot said, where abouts on the for end you chose is more of a personal thing because we all hold differently. I found the point of balance with the hc version is the best spot. If I have it too far back the shots are high and opposite if too far forward Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
Or just learn to shoot a springer properly of the knee or prone for hunting 3 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,558
I think it`s more like " available accuracy". We all have rifles with much more available accuracy than any of us use. I`ve never actually had a shooting lesson but I have been told by others, just shooting lads, if they thought I was doing something wrong over the years and I always listen. So I`m not sure it`s right but I`m with Phil and Matt on Whichever is comfortable and very accurate for you. My T Rex on a primos sticks as well as my 100`s puts out some great available accuracy. p.s. ditto to Mitch VM also Hope that helps any. 1 Quote Link to post
Durham John 693
good groups Mark, mind you could have lightened the dark second pic as it makes that lovely stock look just a tad dark only saying like first pics about spot on, got some sheen on the barrel bluing!! 1 Quote Link to post
PeskyWabbits 464
Mark, how much do you wipe the gun down after? Do you take the stock off and see if any water has seeped down? I've been caught in a couple of downpours recently. I am using a cloth with either '3 in 1' or WD40 on it to wipe over Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,558
Hi Pesky, Sorry mate but I avoid rain like the plague with my air rifles. The shot guns come out on poor weather days and I use gun care sprays when I take them apart to thoroughly wipe down and clean . When I use/ handle any of my guns, for any reason, a nice wipe over with a lightly sprayed rag every time . When I do get caught in the rain with my air rifles, I carry on with the shooting but it`s stock off time when I get home etc, etc. atb 1 Quote Link to post
