WHITE DOGS.

Was out last night with a mate and his mate, who i did not know so well, but seemed alright.

Anyhow, he had a pure white lurcher, whippety type, pure white.

He got a decent bag of bunnys, 9 in all, i thought was fine. Went to a place that had a good number, but were suffering from mxy.

I said that the bitch done well and he turned round and said the bitch could of got more if it was not all white!

He reckoned they can see the dog when it is white... :hmm:

Now, the wind was blowing like feck where we were and i could barely see my hand, an inch away from my face, never mind seeing the bitch!

He then turned round and said, would i like to buy her for 100 euro!! :icon_eek:

She worked well, was very sharp, strike ect, out the 10 she coursed, she only missed 1, but, i am busy rasing a whippet pup st present and diclined. He then said he will stick her in the paper and hope for the best, as he reckoned white dogs are hard to shift?

Strange lad. :hmm:

Whats all your honest opinions on white dogs folks?

I've allways been of the opinion that colour is immaterial in lurchers; BUT, I was out with my mate the other morning and my brindle bitch and his black dog were quartering a field, and my mate said "look at that, your bitch is almost invisble and my dog sticks out like a sore thumb ! A keeper could spot it a mile away !!". I had to agree. Although I'm sure it makes no difference when lamping.Cheers.

i would have thought that with all the info and advice available to dayfrom the net and the many mags that

you can buy, there are still people who would think that a white dog will make game shy away from them.

it aint true.

thought about in the days when ferrets used to have thier canines cut of to and fed on bread and milk only.

i thouht we'd moved on since then

I had a whippet x collie bitch as my last rabbiting dog and she was pure white apart from black speckles on her ear tips and she caught plenty of rabbits. Her only drawback was that she was easily recognisable from some distance if I was on the 'other side of the fence' so to speak!

Aye, as has been prooven.

Hi reckoned that, before the lamp is swicthed on, when walking in the feild, the rabbit will see a white dog, quicker then say a brindle/ect. He mentioned the moon aswell.:laugh:
