Spur Of The Moment

Recommended Posts

Well I've just aquired a new permission fairly close to home so I went for a reccy this morning with the dog, really just to give him a walk and have a look around at what might be hanging about and where and to be honest it's quite open so will be a tricky one but there are some nice looking spots to sit and wait.

For some reason I decided to take the tx just in case and I'm glad I did.

It was only through the corner of my eye while watching a couple of bunnies dissappear through a gap in the hedge that I clocked some movement at the top of an oak thats not quite in full leaf yet.

I managed to find a fence post to lean on and when I eventually found it again through the scope it turned out to be a solitary woody.

No range finder so visually it looked at a similar distance to my garden range and with a bit of elevation the shot looked bang on the cross hairs so away went the 16grn AA field and SMACK, down came the woody.

You can see from the bottom pic that the shot was a tad lower than my aim point but resting on a narrow fence post with the tx I was pretty pleased and it was stone dead.

First woody for the tx so let's hope there are some more next time.

Thanks for reading lads.

Congratulations on your new permission, hope you have many a pleasant time. As to that dead thing in the image, get a lot of them here in the gardens of Hackney, but do not have a safe background to shoot at them and to also make them in to dead things.

Bloody London. A clean kill is a clean kill.

All the best

Don`t be too long with that photo "of mine" Matt, some of the other lads want to borrow it to.

Big Mac in particular, oh - and Philpot.

Nice shot Matt and, well done on the new permission.

cheers John.

It is very open but just got a few spots to get hidden either under the trees or tucked into a gate hole so fingers crossed.
