trigger2 3,137
i was just wondering how many lads have a small bell attached to your locator collars. are they any good and do they effect the rabbits bolting? i am thinking that the fact the rabbit could hear the bell under ground would it cause him to sit tighter? johnrthrfrd 223
Always have a bell on collar never found it bothers the bunnies they soon move when the stinker is on him great in heavy undergrowth you can hear were they are Quote Link to post
Chicken_man 1,651
Yes, I have bells attached to collars. As stated, brilliant for when in thick cover. Atb Quote Link to post
terryd 8,385
Wouldn't be with out them as I am on my own most the time. I can ferret a blind spot knowing I can hear the ferret come out the other side. Also the dog can hear the ferreting coming as well so gives him a bit of warning of whats coming out. 3 Quote Link to post
Beastmaster1980 40
If your ferreting without nets they can be handy in cover but they tend to catch on purse nets and if it's raining forget it, they are full of mud in 5 mins. I'd rather not bother tbh, that's what the locator is for ? Quote Link to post
terryd 8,385
surprising how quick a ferret picks up slipping through the net with bells on. Not all the time mind but mostly. My old jill is great at it. They can get clogged but for the most part are ok and don't take a second to slip clean ones on. I use a locater with bells cover all the angles 3 Quote Link to post

TC Yes I thought you would First time I did them holes with Luke we actually missed the hole in the field behind us which of course was where it bolted I recognise that net its still going strong despite the best efforts of a certain black lump Quote Link to post
trigger2 3,137
it didnt enter my head about them filling with dirt on wet days. after reading this i may just order myself a couple to try they only cost pennys and if it makes life a little easier in the field then i am more than happy. Chicken_man 1,651
I use the bigger cat bells, which a pal recommended as they don't fill up the same. Quote Link to post
