Barbarian1990 220
I've a 7 month old patterdale he's had a couple of rabbits out log pile. While out on a walk yesterday evening he was other side a stream and went out of sight, when I got over to him he was stood outside a rock pile whimpering and yapping and looked as if he was wanting to go in but didn't have bottle. I don't know if I'm doing right thing by letting him play around them or not? Id like him to go to ground but don't want to spoil him. Cheers Quote Link to post
fox buster 118
7 month old is to young to start letting go to ground i wouldnt evan let one start going till at least 10-11 month old and ive only ever done that then when ive had a terrier thats been real keen to go by then. If your wanting to make a good earthdog pal to fox dont spoil it by entering to early and allowing it get beat up at a early age coz it will jack in long run. 2 Quote Link to post

Cheers mate I didn't want to take him away from it if he thought I was punishing him if you get me? I don't want him to go to ground until he's older just wondering what I do now when I'm walking him as he's found two now and done same thing. Quote Link to post
Barbarian1990 220
Keep it off rabbits can ruin a good earth dog! I recently dug a so called good hunt terrier On a rabbit very embarrassing for the man Cheers mate I never thought of that. Bloke I brought him off said parents don't go to ground so I was just going to use him for bushing but he's started showing interest so don't know what to do from now hahaha. Will keep him off rabbits and make sure he don't go to ground until older and keep a eye on him see how keen he gets ? Quote Link to post

I'm getting some kennels up over next few months so when I'm ready for a digging dog I will go to lads I know are doing it and get one from a digging line. Cheers Quote Link to post

Barbarian1990 220
Cheers mate, all I need to do is find out how to enter him correctly hahaha. He's a good little dog round home even if he don't work so he's served his purpose as a pet for the wife. Quote Link to post
