Graham M 36
You can't shoot a springer off a rest as it will jump all over the place and you will never obtain a good group, even with a scope. Try resting on your elbow but put a cushion under your arm to steady the rifle. You will be surprised how the groups tighten up. G Quote Link to post

G As nothing is gripping the rifle or fastened to the rifle like a by pod the rifle will not jump and the groups will be spot on the sticks are not just used by spring rifle lads but bullet gun lads as well with out standing results and some bullet rifles recoil like hell ever fired a 303 if you have you will know what i mean some of the sticks are padded at the resting point of the rifle witch reduces recoil or barrel flip not having a go at you just stating the facts have a look at Mark Williams hunting posts and plinking posts with the sticks and you will see the results if the sticks were sh*t the one thing i can tell you about Mark is he would tell you BIG TIME atvbmac  1 Quote Link to post
Underdog 2,337
Most bullets have left a cartridge rifle before any significant recoil takes effect. Quote Link to post
Graham M 36
I appreciate what you are saying as I shoot off sticks myself every time I shoot (too old to lie down in the mud these days) I have also shot a springer off sticks (HW77) and I can assure you it doesn't remain on target as a cartridge rifle does due to the piston jumping around. A PCP rifle is brilliant off sticks. Agree to disagree methinks. G 1 Quote Link to post
Rez 4,960
Im sure shooters would rest the back side of the hand on the sticks and the rifle in that... Any time Ive shot my own HW of anything other than my leading head, its wank. Quote Link to post

Michael J B Lancaster 69
Here's me with a 4x32 scope and wishing I could zoom in further, let alone revert to using iron sights. My vision is like the girl with the curl in the middle of her forehead. When its good, it's very very good and when it's bad, I'm Stevie Wonder. Props to you. 2 Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Right then Jimmy just had a fettle of the 99s trigger tonight and I popped the scope off to do the work then I remembered this thread, so I've bunged the Iron sights on. I'm off down to the range tomorrow I'll do some on the 20yd maybe 25 if it goes well and I'll pop a pic up 1 Quote Link to post
