Malt 379
Some nice finches there, really good pictures! I like to see finches in the garden, we're starting to see more of them on our estate since a few of us started clearing out the corvids.
leegreen 2,222
If any one is interested get sunflower hearts they are defo the best. I get through over 200kg of seed each year and I use sunflower hearts, peanuts and niger seed. Sunflower hearts are 60% of that mix every thing can eat them unlike peanuts or mixed seed which gets wasted quite a bit.
Geoff.C 0
Yes, spot on leegreen. So much of some bird seed mixes is left behind, like lentils etc. Works out cheaper to feed just what the birds like so no waste. I get chipped peanuts, loads of sunflower hearts and a handful of sunflower seeds to make it look a bit more interesting. I feed niger in a feeder with little holes, so only the finches with pointy beaks can get it. Some nice pics scottishlass, you get a similar mix of birds to me. The woodpecker knocks hell out of fatballs. Small moan -- you really need a fatball holder, like a loose coiled spring, only a couple of quid. The green netting can catch birds beaks and tongues.
