skycat 6,174
My Airedale lurchers have biked 10 miles without even tiring, and that's being reasonably fit but nothing out of the ordinary. That is at a non stop trotting pace, and they're pulling most of the way. This is up and down hill as well; on a bike track round Grafham Water. On the flat, not pushed for time, 10 miles would be nothing to a fit dog, no matter what size it is. Even a terrier could do that without a problem if youngish and fit. 6 Quote Link to post
byron 1,189
thanks skycat.. it amazies me that some people allus want to dought others..as for 37mph,i just wanted to know what speeds others had noted if any.oh and I don't run the dog in heat of the day.early morning, and in about two/three hours time............ when there's a bit of scent about.lol..... Somewhereyournot 1,117
How is the dog bred to clock 37mph. A lot of people have whitnessed bedlington x whippet struggling for pace on rabbits, but at 37 mph they wouldn't struggle on hare Quote Link to post

Always had running dogs aboot me, greyhounds and lurchers. Was walking them through ma village years ago when a man stopped me and asked what speed the dogs could run at, I told him I had no idea and asked why. "Oh" he said, "I had my dalmation running alongside the car yesterday and he was doing 44mph". So yer wee whippet cross has tae find another gear. Quote Link to post
