Euro Style Fishing

Recommended Posts

Hello all ! First of I'd like to say I'm fascinated with the way y'all fish across the pond ( it's dubbed Euro style fishing here in the states )! I must apologize if I use incorrect terminology but I musk ask why are y'all's methods so...complex ? I like watching videos on YouTube of carp fishing but I'm just baffled by all the equipment that's used . I mean a lot of folks are just as bad over here especially with catfish ! But I some of y'all wouldn't mind explaining a few things it would be great!

Stay Blessed !

Stocking carp ?! Lol sorry I understand that stocking and raising them is a very common practice but over here carp ( common, grass, big head, flying etc) are basically trash fish. Most people hate them or the idea of them. I mean they're all over the place . in a lot of places with carp You can catch 20-60 a day. Ten is pretty common. There was actually an amazing video put together on YouTube were some guys from the UK came over here and fished with some U.S carp fishers . Shows a lot of differences Between the U.S and the UK. I'll try to find it. But as far as me well I fish a lot if different ways lol ! Not as into it as I used to but catfish is one of my favorite species ! Over here we have three main species :flat heads, channels, and blues. With those I mainly target channels in large ponds. Methods include jug lines, noodles, trot lines, bank lines, limb lines, bank fishing the list goes on lol ! Theirs also hand grabbing (basically you swim around and find one of t the cat fish holes , ; a old long, dens in the bank ,etc and stick your hand in to make the ole' catfish bite you. When he does that you pull him right out ! Haven't done it yet though. As Far as bow fishing it's extremely fun ! A lot of people do it to try to control carp populations. A lot of trappers do it so that can render the fish down to make fish oil for trapping.

I'm sure the tatics here could be used just as successfully over there.

You can have all the gear in the world but it won't count for shit if you haven't got any water craft.

Finding fish and then baiting correctly is the 2 key things IMO, we can all learn how to tie a rig etc, but only time spent on the water gives you the edge...

It's a fascinating sport, no 2 days are the same and that's what keeps you going back, well it has me for over 30 years!! Lol
