Greyhound Id Question.

Recommended Posts

Decided to have a look on the web to see if there was any history to a greyhound we used to have back in the 1970's. My brother got him from Battersea Dogs Home, and his name was Flash. He had a bit of scar tissue on the inside of his left back leg in the knee area. He was white and sandy brown, and had a tattoo in his left ear only which was YAH, no numbers at all. He had no tattoo marks in his right ear. It doesn't quite add up with the method of tattoo markings on either English or Irish dogs.

Just wondering if anyone could shed any light on it, I know it's a long shot.

Only got the one poor photo.

He once nipped out and brought home a white rabbit and laid it next to the sister-in-laws bed, also recall him getting into the living room and eating the christmas joint of beef (it was thawing out), he left the turkey LOL.

The only dog on greyhound data matching that ear tattoo and date period is a blue dog .......

I know very little about greyhound tattos, Could that not be a litter brother?

Do greyhounds in same litter get individual tattoos or do whole litter get same tattoo?

Thanks for the replies lads, would seem you are coming up against the same issues I had, couldn't find anything concrete at all. I did find out that siblings of a litter do get a different number each depending on who was born first=1, second=2 etc. There's lots of info out there but I can't tally it with the tattoo markings.

No worries, as I said, it is a long shot.

I was given an injured greyhound bitch for breeding lurchers and when i type her ear tattoo into greyhound data nothing comes up. She is tattooed right ear only , born 2013, sired by kinloch breay and dam was supposedly an open class bitch. Id like to learn more about the dam.
