after having a right struggle with the .22 and pellet choice i decided that id get the same model in.177 as i like look and the feel of the rifle plus its got a good shot count so i ordered it in from my local shop with the intention of chopping the .22 in, but after the last few outings I've decided to keep it , its been a busy few weeks and its taken kits at upto 56m which I'm more than happy with!

so today I've picked up the 177 nice dark stock looks good!

its straight out of the box so I've had to take the mod off to fit the cylinder, when screwing the mod back on the barrel turned 1/4 way round, I've heard you lads on here talking about this before so i new what to do so i thought sod it and took the barrel off and gave it a good clean with a few pull throughs and yep loads of sh!te came out, so put it all back together used the first mag getting the scope sorted the second mag went through like a dream ,a pea sized group at 20m with rws super field in 4.51 thats as good as the testings going to be till sunday :cray: they crono at 11.4 too so I'm one happy camper.

thanks to all you lads that post on here cos the tips and advice are priceless

Go Air Arms Fields mate. .177

just been looking at the dates on the tins, the aa's are early 2014 and the rws have no date but i bet they've been in the shop a while... maybe pre op

Now this is a good time for me to ask this question, and Mark, it will be to you two as I know you have the same... Its actually not really a question... but is in a way, more of a thought.

Why own two of the same models, literally the same thing, but in a different calibre...?

Im not sure personally I could do that. When really, either calibre will do, in any situation, especially with the 100.... Dont get me wrong, the 100 is mint like, but to think, "oh, Ill spend another 000's on the same rifle, and not try anything new" puzzles me a bit. I love my Rapids, but I know if I got one in .22, [i would like one] it would feel and shoot the same and so think, I might try a AA, or a BSA, if you know what I mean.

Just putting the thought out there.

To be fair, I buy about 10 white T-shirts in one go. But they aren't in different sizes :)

post-85710-0-40898500-1462983754.jpg I originally bought the HW 100 kt .177 after seeing it`s performance at my local range and how highly rated as a hunting rifle it is, - I have never looked back since.

Before buying the kt I used a FWB Sport 127 from the early 80`s right up to 2013. To compare them in the hunting field had the scales heavily siding with the 100 kt .

I shot .22 cal exclusively all my shooting life with great results and then I bought an utter tac driver that knocked over all before it - the HW 100 kt .177.

I loved the results so much that " I wanted" and got a HW 100 ks .22 and I was no were near as impressed as I thought I would be UNTILL a friend on here advised me to shoot Falcon Accuracy Plus through it,- wow what a difference ! I bought 5000 of them and now use both calibres/ rifles regularly.

The above photo is the shot placement of the HW 100 ks .22 and pellet effectiveness. The FAP .22 entered through the right side of the head and out through the base of the neck.

I use both calibres out to 30 yards + a touch.

I tend to lean towards .177 after 35 yards and please remember ( just my choice) especially threading shots through spindle branches with flat trajectory.

.22 curves off "dramatically" from 30 yard onwards, - you`ve heard the song before.

i got the 22 after chopping in 177 pcp because i fancied a change and hadn't used one for years, i chose the hw just because of quality all round! but i found it a nightmare cos after the never-ending search for THE PELLETT " aa field"that work a treat but like mark said drop off at a hell of a rate aft 30± yards but this can be worked out well with the hawk app.

so i decided to keep it, its got proper knock down power.

and the 177 dropped a rabbit fist shot at about 35 yards this aft after i ditched work early.

and the reason for two of the same bar different cal is they don't let you down unlike others I've had and there bomb proof which is good cos I'm permanently jumping over gates n crawling about in sh!t

I got both

177 sporter

And 177 carbine sporter , both with a/m cylinders

Why you might ask , the answers simple , I'm a greed b*****d ,

No the reall reason the sporter has got the 870 on board , and that's where it stops ( nite shooting )

The cs is grand for a walk round , but with out the weight and both as good as each other

I buy a rifle to do a certain job , as we all do and if we're happy with them , who can argue
