Mine is thick as fuuck, knows what's expected and still fuucks about. He's nearly two ffs and causes me no end of agro. He is getting better day by day to the point where I have some trust in him but his recall is still wank compared to any of my other dogs at 6months and as I said he's feckin two lovely dog though and a great bond hes just well mental

I habit 1 once would catch anything you put him on but by f**k he would try and eat it rather than bring it back was fed nothing but the best as well he had a long walk up a short field

as said it a pup still just be patient, plus its a saluki x and your first running dog in my mind i would not have got a saluki x for my first running dog. just keep at it.

All jokes apart is the dog highly saturated saluki like half cross or 3/4 saluki mate if not it might have just taken to that side of its breeding I would advise you to read as much as you can on the origin and how they are kept they normally do best in a one dog one man situation and living in the home with you that said there are guys on here who are devoted saluki x men ie the coursing fraternity . But what I will say is don't shout or show anger in any way towards the dog coz if that dog decides it doesn't like you you my friend are proper f****d it won't do a thing for you

He is a one man dog but as I've say most the time he's good but when hes not wanting to do anything he will not do it thats even go out for piss at night, I try not to let him get rabbits as he will just run and shake the f**k out off it and not come near he even if I walk way, now this is were I'm finding it hard in what to do I want him to get rabbits but not till he will come to me with his toys ever time as I fill when he dose this it puts back to square one what can I do? (Not shoot it!!)

Garden mate.hallway.or narrow passage, sling a dead in up,send dog calling fetch,etc etc and crouch low blocking alley way,hopefully with nowere to get past hell bring it back,to your totall over exited cuddles n kisses

What I have noticed is thar most dogs who shake rabbits do it because the rabbit has struggled in some way and the dog fears dropping it. This is a hard hobbit to brake and normally stems from the dog being entered to game to young try watching perdies progress by dave slight I think know the man is called this my help you out but I reiterate read about salukis

Yes I think you are right about letting him see rabbits too early that's what I did, I read it somewhere that you should tell them see game at a young age so I did but it's not worked for me, so lesson learnt what works for you don't work for me!

If you done no retrieving training,with socks etc then moved onto cold rabbits,then once thats perfected,maybe a short,close mixy rabbit when it's maturer,like wise you need recall training too,.how does your dog knoe what to do once it's caught s rabbit.?

Mate we all made that mistake now is the hard part rectifying it this can be done by using a dead rabbit in a confined space and correcting him when he tries to shake it but with saluki blood and I'm unaware of how much this must I repeat must be done slowly and gently of you could try getting him in the shed or some other small space and give him a dead one and staying with him let him do what he wants with the rabbit and you ignore it and when he adventually stops through bore dome coax him to you and reward him when he isn't I repeat isn't shaking the rabbit

Go back to basics keep him away from any quarry , start feeding him by hand, recall start in Back garden give him a treat when he comes to you , even hold his food bowl walk around garden make him fallow you , retrieving the same start again from garden when he brings anything to you give him a treat play bit of tugging with him before you throw it again and give him treats. Saluki can be very head strong arrogant b*****ds shouting or getting angry makes it worse. Atb
