Waz 4,274
Heard about a sturgeon getting caught twice within a few hours, interesting to hear of the pike too. Seems easy to understand predator species getting caught again soon after. Quote Link to post
tillylamp 1,839
i think...one of the most guaranteed places to catch a carp two or three times is fishing in a match lake, they are stocked with so many fish, then..when you catch one, it's got miss-shaped fins, or a bad mark on it's body, but the dead giveaway is.....it's got half a mouth missing, making it easy to identify....it's no wonder really, the lakes are designed to hook a fish...get it in as quick as possible....get the hook out quickly...get the fish in the keepnet...and get your bait out again, Quote Link to post
South hams hunter 8,937
Had the same scorpion fish twice in one session when on a spevies hunt. He had part of his flare missing Quote Link to post
neil r 1,902
I had the same 5lb carp twice in 2 casts on a small club water when i used to pole fish . It had a bit of a kink in its back above its tail and was easily identified .It was known as a mug fish , nearly everyone who fished there had caught the fish . Ive also had the same 20lb+ pike twice in 3 days . Got it the first time at 24lb and 3 days later i had 2 20s at the same time when 2 of my margin rods went and 1 of them was the same fish at 23.12 , you could tell it was the same one because of a scar near its tail and also the spot pattern near the tail from comparing the photos Quote Link to post

These known mug fish, are they piling on the weight? are they mug fish due to their appetite? Treecreepers double catch of the same fish putting on a 1/5th of its weight in a year !!! treecreeper 1,136
The fish I had only came out three times last year I had it twice looking at the records within a week, and then I had it and of April this year. So it seems to come out similar time each year and then not get caught for 12 months. Quote Link to post

They were stocked at about half lb to a lb a few years earlier so it was feeding well , probably due to the competition for food with all the other carp in a small lodge . They ended up going well into doubles with a few 20s so they were took out and it was restocked with small ones again but they havent done aswell this time round Quote Link to post
Greyman 29,451
Repeat captures of so called mug fish can even happen in lightly stocked lakes, rivers and canals, I caught the same carp from the same swim with a year or so between them on the K&A canal which is 90 miles long, have also had canal carp miles apart with many locks between captures, some fish just love bait while others live on a more natural diet and seldom if ever get caught by anglers, the fastest recapture I ever saw, was many years ago when I was at cuttle mill, had a 28lb mirror, photos done fish returned, quick rinse of my hands and as I stood up my mates rod tip hooped round and after an equally spectacular fight my mate landed the same fish cleanly hooked in the mouth and back in the unhooking mat within 10mins max, it is just what it is and if we new all the answers we would not go fishing, 2 Quote Link to post
