DogFox123 1,379
Yes heard it last night in Doncaster. Knew straight away what it was coming from an RAF family Amazing bits of kit the typhoons love em Never heard a Sonic Boom before but I guessed it was one. Correct me if I'm wrong but when a Jet breaks the sound barrier it produces a double boom. Apparently there was only 2 booms but 2 jets were scrambled, it doesn't work out??? They probably got orders at the time to go super sonic so both went for it at the same time, probably why it was heard over such a large distance. Lucky b@stards That's what I'm saying, I'm sure a single jet produces two sonic booms when breaking the sound barrier. Two jets should have produced four, could be wrong though. Correction, a jet breaking the sound barrier creates a continous boom not just one blast. As long as the plane stays above Mach 1 the boom will be heard throughout its path. Correct but 2 jets at roughly the same time will produce what will seem like 1 loud bang but will be 2 separate bangs.Heard over a bigger distance I was talking to a typhoon pilot and he said they can get from Lincoln to London in under 8 mins Edited May 3, 2016 by dogmad riley

mushroom 13,256
The typhoon (eurofighter) is an awesome piece of kit that unfortunately was surpassed before the first was even produced. Before the first one was off the line they already drew up plans for the JSF, killed off the harriers (another amazing plane) but also removed the go ahead for some incredible technology that was to be part of the typhoon. Yanks always want to be ahead and will ensure it.... frankly we do it better alone
Dig-deep-draw-charlie 2,713
When ever I was in Afghanistan after a fire fight if a jet was nearby they would always do a show of strength and fly over very very close, we where heading back to the pb and the b*****d flew over and knocked a few of us on our arses, scared the ballix out of me! Lol but they are some bits of kit!
