Polecat

Recommended Posts

I had one off a mate a few years back. His young daughter handled the kits everyday.I had one off him.The day after i had it the bloody thing was like a Tigress.Flying from the back of the hutch at me.I couldn't handle it.My mate wouldn't believe me so he came over to see.He couldn't handle it either.Sadly only one option remained.it was pts.Another mate has two now.The jill is a treasure to handle. But the Hob skulks in the hutch if it doesn't recognise you.He is fine with my mate though.

I got a half x,handled every day for 3 yrs and still bites like f**k lol-hell of a worker-crossed her to a bew hob and the kitts have kept the speed/hunting instinct and don't bite(all the proper wild ones or eu polecats I've seen have hissed at you when opening the box or hutch etc-only tolerate you handling them after a good feed-then still go back to biting f**k out of you lol-speaking from my own experience sure someone else will say different mind.atb dc

I saw something recently about ferrets on some Scottish island that were introduced donkeys years ago to control rabbits. Imo they would be a better cross than a wild polecat, untainted working ability but still reasonably domesticated.

If they where that good they would have replace the normal hard working ferret surely ?. Anybody that needs to add a gimmick to there ferrets doesn't have a proper working strain

there used to be a serious rabbit problem there around 13 years ago. Is it still bad. Also there was some amount of hares there as well. Even the golden coloured one.

no there's no foxes on there. Its some sight when a large amount of hares running together. When I was there last they were trying to trap all the wild ferrets.
