beddiwhuppet 10
well thanks to them in the know ,its the old chestnut, believe nothing you hear and only half of what you see ,at least i feel i can give an honest opinion of what i have experienced with some good bred/trained dogs,it just shows the real dog men on here the unexperienced of those who really think they know what they are talking about, other wise they wouldnt have commented,to all those who looked and didnt comment on a dog they knew nothing about sjm,i know collie/greys and yes they make good dogs in the right hands, like any dog i guess jmo,but obviously you have never owned a beddi/whipp,so why comment,?? to many books judged by its cover i guess maybe thats why your not as clever as you think you are :ok: Link to post
Guest BIG FRANK
mines caught this all on his own, just a rabbit dog though, took him about 10 mins but he caught it,showed some good stamina, hes caught 11 lamped rabbits on his own,and that was enough to carry on my own, enough to fill the freezer eh,not into trying to break records hes matured a bit since then,i do agree though a little more hieght would help, they have great heart though, going to cross him with my mates whippet/greyhound in a couple of years, but they are good rabbiters if thats all you want to hunt jmo, cheers for nowhey ...ten mins is a dam good course ...i would have liked to seen that....... ... a full 10 mins :hmm: :hmm: Link to post

Guest SJM
Your right, I havent owned a bedlington whippet, mostly because I went lamping with a lad who had one a couple of times and his dog struggled to make any catches, we were running on flat parks with short grass and it couldnt come to terms with the rabbits, so I saw enough from that to make me stick with my collie/greyhounds I did used to own a bedlington bred lurcher bitch, she was a good wee hunter and could kill an odd hare, but she had a very soft coat and got shivery and miserable looking if she got cold and wet when we were out ferreting or lamping, and she got injured a lot and was the type of dog who just had to look at a bit of rock or shingle and she would be limping, I would never have another one as they just arent durable enough for the amount of hunting I do, but if you like them and they suit you then best of luck to you Link to post

beddiwhuppet 10
pure whippet all the time atb fraser if you dont mind your dog shivering and shaking while ferreting These don`t shiver mate, if you get a whippet bred from proper working lines they`re more than a match for any small lurcher as a rabbiting dog Both bitches from Sooty Sam lines This black dog definitely doesn`t shiver either, they`ll work all day all weathers with stamina to spare cracking dogs mate good to see Link to post
