ferretman 0
mines caught this all on his own, just a rabbit dog though, took him about 10 mins but he caught it,showed some good stamina, hes caught 11 lamped rabbits on his own,and that was enough to carry on my own, enough to fill the freezer eh,not into trying to break records hes matured a bit since then,i do agree though a little more hieght would help, they have great heart though, going to cross him with my mates whippet/greyhound in a couple of years, but they are good rabbiters if thats all you want to hunt jmo, cheers for nowf**k me my dogs a bullx and is f****d after 2 mins never mind 10 mins. well done mate must be a cracking dog to course a hare for 10 mins. all the best with the dog keep at em. bill88 6
Its the age old argument (horse's for course's pre ban of course, there i go again course this course that ) If you put a Formula 1 car on a rally stage, the suspension would be fooked in a couple of mins, and if you put a rally prepped subaru on a formula 1 circuit,it would be left for dead. Now put them on the ground they were designed for,and there unbeatable.Similar thing with dog's,we outcross sight hounds and lurchers to add different qualities (speed, stamina, strength, spirit, etc) My colliexgrey was a jack of all trades, did everything i asked of her,but she was a master of none, and no world beater, she didn't excell at one particular discipline, but was competent at most. I bought my beddyxwhippet as a rabbit dog, primarily to work with the ferts, and for general mooching.I am just starting to give her a couple of easy slips on the lamp, but i don't expect her to be taking huge bags on the lamp,i could of had a straight whippet, that would probably have caught bunnys all night long, but would it go crashing through brambles,or would it mark buries day in day out, and stand around in the rain/snow all day waiting for bolters?JMO as always. Guest FOXDOG
Sorry mate I wasnt trying to be a prick But I just dont believe a Beddie/Whippet could do that time. Ask any of the coursing lads and I bet that theres not 5 dogs in the country that have run a hare for 10 mins solid and there bred to run the hare. Are you sure your not exaggerating a bit it might have 2/3 minutes and just seemed an age. If you put up a video of your dog running the hare ANYWHERE near 10 minutes I will apologise straight away and congradulate you and more so your little dog Edited December 3, 2007 by FOXDOG Link to post

Boom 0
Ive already said what the best dog is for the bunnie . but people keep mentioning beddy X's or whippet's .. dont get me wrong they are awsome dog's if bred right and bunnies have little chance against these speed demon's but not in number's.. Then the bullX is mentioned which is a equally good terrier bred lurcher and will hold it's own agianst the best on rough gear aswell bunnies....but they still lack the quality of the collie X As time and fashion's take hold most people forget about the good old collie cross or the deerhound cross's that we all startred with year's ago and if they was ever a bet i would put my dosh on the collie X or deerhond X Or a mixture of both.. So they you go.. .. and this is from my experience whatching these breed's run over my limmited life. And my next dog will be........... A colie X .. ... Millet im glad you said that cos i have a pup at 9 month old thats a greyhound collie x whippet Edited December 3, 2007 by Boom Link to post
