Caravan Monster 323
Approx 8 month old sal / grey x col / grey bitch. Administered drontal this morning, and she puked everything up a few hours later. From doing a web search, it sounds like this reaction occurs sometimes. She is fed mostly raw and is a bit of a picky eater (unless carrion or cat sh1t ) and a touch on the skinny side, but basically happy, active and seems to have an otherwise robust constitution. Can anyone recommend an alternative wormer ? Edited May 1, 2016 by Caravan Monster

Sirblessed 2,511
Advocate spot on. Does internal and external parasites Did 3 dogs with this stuff, one dog was sick for a week, throwing up, squirting through her back end and wouldn't eat or drink, had to force feed and drink her. Funny how some dogs like people get reactions to meds.

skycat 6,173
The only problem with Panacur is that a lot of people don't realise you have to give more than one dose. If you follow the protocol correctly, yes, it's good, but it isn't so good on the flea tapeworm which is transmitted to dogs, even with repeated doses. That's what I've found anyway, and if the dog is continually being reinfested via fleas then a multi-pronged approach may well be necessary.

Caravan Monster 323
Sounds like the panacur 10% dosage is 1ml / 1kg / day for 3 days. Point taken about flea tapeworm - she lives in, so the de-fleaing regime is obviously strict, but something to remember for the warmer months. Thanks all Edited May 1, 2016 by Caravan Monster
Gaz_1989 9,539
Is advocate available without prescription ? If someone's got a reliable source then I would love to know about it. I used to really rate this stuff but my vets stopped doing it and the website I got it from stopped doing it. I used to use drontal, then 3 months later advocate, then back to drontal.
gnipper 6,521
Milbemax?
low plains drifter 10,685
Milbeworm is good, and the dosage does'nt have to be so exact as the other wormers, one tablet treats dogs weighing between 10-25 kg
HPR 1,161
Milbemax?I also use milbemax

I was always led to believe it was a single dose from 6 months old onwards?
