Cuban Tackle?

I'm guessing there's one or two gents on here that have wet a line in Cuba so I'd like to ask for tackle recommendations ?

Not a fishing holiday but plan on getting away as and when to wet a line.

Got a little 20/50g tele and a few lures and poppers, braided reel and mono reel and a few packs of hooks for bait fishing, nothing too serious (how I'd love to though)

Hopefully get a few locals on side as I'm not planning on bringing too much gear home apart from my reels.

I'm in Havana for a week then Varadero ( rolls eyes), but don't mind travelling a bit while the Mrs is on gas mark 6 for the day.

Just got a few bits of rudementry tackle, I'd prefer to take more of my proper gear but not really practical.

Just hoping to get a bend in my rod somewhere.

Watched him the other night mate. I'd love a go at the tarpon in the mangroves but I think hats a bit too much to hope for.

I was using fly gear matt , you can get bait easy enough out the hotel the food is shite better feeding the fish with it lol

always take my gear on holiday.

Caught a fair few fish in St Lucia mainly on lures, but was well under gunned on my travel spinning rod and got smashed by Baracuda when retrieving fish regularly, also got hit and smashed up by what looked like decent sized tuna, was fishing into deep water off of the rocks and could see them following the lures right in,

Just wished I had a bit heavier gear and a load more lures!! Lol

I'll try and get pics of a snapped rod and empty lure box! Lol

30lb braid and 20lb mono and a few traces, so hopefully I might drag somthing in.

Should be a laugh anyway!

Been to both havana and varedero ...I spent 28 days in Havana working in 2004 ...36 of us turned up there and we spent the night in a 5 star hotel ....we were doing a job for Repsol the spanish oil company we had a meeting the next day and the company man said they are having problems offshore so you will be on the beach for at least 11 days ....he said go out enjoy the drink the women the culture any of you step out of line your on the first plane home ....long story short we spent 28 days there on full pay they hired a holiday complex in a place called Marina Hemmingway ....just a month of drinking dancing and riding ....I dont know what was orer when I got home my liver or my cock ....I see the first american tourists are getting in now so its better to get there before it all changes ...
