i grew up in deptford, my sister still lives there and my dad is just upo the road in blackheath. it was always a rough area, and there were a lot of immigrants when i was a kid, mostly nigerians and vietnamese, but the thing that has changed is the fact that the original immigrants were grateful to be here and happy to try to fit in. they were genuinely resp ctful of our culture. two things have happened in the 25 years or so since i moved away. first, the original immigrants had kids and those kids grew up with large chips on their shoulders, and secondly waves of eastern europeans started to come, who thought it was their right and thought they could do whatever the f**k they wanted.

the area now frightens me to be honest, and i am not a shrinking violet by any means. its as bad as anywhere in the country for sure

 

and by the way gnasher you rude bugger, i dont recognise any of those lot from the Den. i think they are probably charlton.

Times change Wilf you,d be lucky to get a bedsit round there for under a mill now......most of Dundee Wharf are copping for 5/6k per month rents.....gotta be a bit cagey and astute about how we get rid of the darkies these days cant just chase them off with cricket bats like the old days

there's still people from that area that haven't given up Gnash , I know you like to think your area of East London is a bit different mate but it's not mate . I see this pic on FB the other day a block of flats in Bermondsey on St George's day
