I know nothing about cameras.

Thinking about getting a cannon power shot sx40 or sx 50 or sx 60.

I'm no photographer and just want a camera to take a few pictures now and again, my £20 Kodak more or less does the job however I can't take any distance or action shots.

I don't want to be changing lenses or anything like that so I thought a bridge camera would suit me best. I was going to get a camera this time last year but there are so many to pick from and that many choices it became mind boggleing?.

I have £400 to spend and it took a little saving so don't want to make a bad choice. I would like to go for the new sx60 but worried about if it will be too technical as I'm not very tech savy and dyslexia don't help none lol.

Guess I'm after any advice or if anyone has had any experience with theese cameras and what they thought of them? Any input at all would be appreciated. Thank you for reading Atb FSH. ?

It won't be to tech for you bud.

You will soon pick it up.

I am no expert at all but find Nikon, Sony and canon products are very good.

For wildlife and action shots a view finder is very handy!

Is that the Canon PowerShot SX60 HS? The spec will be fine for what you want and more. The only thing I'd mention is the max ISO of 3200, which means that you are a bit restricted in very low light conditions without flash, like at an indoor show or action shots at dawn or dusk. However it is still good though and even if there is an alternative that goes to a higher ISO, the picture quality may be poor (ie too much noise).

I don't think you'll find it too technical to use, as you can stick with a couple of the programs for most use. I have the SX40 for when I need portability, like for holidays, and I am very happy with it.

Sounds like an absolutely cracking camera!! Not sure what the cost is? But there's a lot of high quality specs on that what you put up so if it's within your budget then I personally can't see you getting much/if any better quality than that buddy

Ive seen them for £260 mate however I can get one from Argos for £298 which I'm thinking would be better in case anything went wrong with it.

The specifications are bog standard for 2016, the 16.1 megapixels are only as good as the resolving power of the sensor and the lens, you will loose a lot of that from a 3.8mm lens that has a 65x optical zoom and starts from f3.5. If you are not technically minded and do not have the basic knowledge of digital photography all those specifications you have quoted on your post are and will be meaningless to you, and are still bog standard for 2016.

If I was giving advice then I would say go to a Camera Shop and try some out. I would take a lap top if I have one and ask to take some images from a selection of cameras in my price range and transfer them to it. I would take my own good time at home analysing the quality from each camera and then choose the one that come close to my requirements before I gave anyone a penny of my money. For the cost of a memory card and card reader if you do not have them, you could be saving yourself a lot of grief.

If I was giving advice that is.

Your money, your choice.

Seems a fair price that to me,your getting a lot of camera for not an extortionate price bud,my lad has been getting a new bridge camera, not sure what kind but it takes seriously pin sharp pics even with the zoom,my old dslr's don't shoot as many frames per second as the one your thinking of getting plus mine only have 1600 iso capabilities meaning yours will have a far better chance of getting a decent low light pic compared to mine..I've read some reviews online of the one your keen on,everyone seems impressed with their's bud

Just to add FSH the camera does NOT come with an instruction manual you have to view/download it from Canon's website & the only other common complaint is when at full zoom its extremely difficult to focus on a subject just using the camera handheld,on a tripod its not so much of an issue

If I can take pictures half as good as some of the pics you put up on here that will do me.

That is for having a look Fuji, much appreciated.
