mr scent 665
Iv had half cross wheaten hounds and 3/4 collie hounds that I thought were the bees kness pal but I got a 3/4 bull last season and Iv never looked back . He takes rabbits with ease and has taken hares before I had him but he excels foxing wise around cover and holes . Money couldn't buy him to be honest and he doesn't get broke up to easy . Iv a pup coming back off him too so I think il stick to the bull cross from here on in . Horses for courses and all that carry on but whatever suits your needs best and the quarry you hunt Quote Link to post

brenner 773
I have no experience of g.s.d / Belgium Shepherd or mallinios x greyhound but I imagine if you were totally against bull x grey. I would think they fit the bill for what I think your after. In their pure form that are pretty fearless (not game) but still a rough, Hardy animal. Very intelligent, trainable and crazy prey drive.good feet. And I'm sure you would have many a good dog to choose from in states for a breeding Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
So, I'm fairly new to lurchers and longdogs but I have some to this question. For someone who has the idea of wanting a lurcher that is big enough to handle most game and styles of hunting, would an old pro choose a first cross collie lurcher or a 3/4 bred collie lurcher? Thanks in advance. An old pro would rather drop her clouts in a less windy alley,an experienced hunter would pick a mutt that best suited his hunting lifestyle and terrain.Personally id not own a lurcher without Border Collie in the mix and id not own a first or second cross either.
