Airtech- Review Of Tuning Work On My .177 Ultra Se Bsa

Recommended Posts

As promised, here is feedback!

I took my rifle to Carl in Telford for the "works", as described by Villaman, on Feb 2nd 2016. Carl is a very knowledgeable and skilled engineer, of that that there is no doubt, and he enthusiastically described his intended modifications to my gun ( much the same as Villaman's, see his previous thread, and my post).

Carl said my rifle was next in line for "the treatment", after completing work on an R10, whose owner was also present when I visited. There was then a delay of about 6 weeks, due to Carl having health and family issues, which was totally understandable, as we all have unforeseen pressures.

I collected my rifle in late March. On arrival I was told that the stock /shroud/air cylinder didn't quite fit snugly, but a little sandpapering of my stock made everything fit.

I took it back to Cumbria, and have been impressed with how it shoots. I am no engineer myself, but the loading action is definitely smoother. The overall shot count from a 200 fill is marginally up. I am sorry not to be more specific, but despite several pm's and texts, Carl still hasn't sent me the exact details of the work he has undertaken and shot string readouts etc., that he undertook. Which is a shame as I told him 3 weeks ago that I needed them to post a review of his work on this Forum!

The work on my Ultra cost £160. It always was, and still is, an excellent air rifle. The shroud has replaced the SFS "Stumpy" moderator, and seems equally quiet on report, with no change in accuracy over 35 shots. I have had over 380 shots since the modifications, without problems.

Carl didn't send me any of the data from my Regal either, but he was more than happy for fill me in over the phone, I did ask him to send me some AirTech stickers, as they're aren't any on my rifle. He said he would but I'm not holding my breath, he's a very busy man and quite inward facing where his tuning work is concerned, just rest easy that whatever he has done is to make the rifle the best thing it can possibly be with many years of experience going into his work. Dare I say that he has made my Regal boring, every pellet just goes through the same hole ;)

Can't recommend Airtech enough !!

A wonderful engineer .. my Airtech Ultra extremely consistant and accurate. I've put a 1000 pellets through it since having the modification carried out. Shot count is massively increased (325m cylinder & regulator helps) .. plus Carl's a nice bloke !
