Dan McDonough 560
It's crazy looking through the autos you guys have. On the one side your driving around in what amounts to something we'd get for our wife to drive to the grocery store. On the other side, the m.p.g.'s your getting are double what's available here. Getting over 20 m.p.g. on a hunting truck here is unheard of. We can't get Hilux's here because gas tax funds the hwy. upkeep so they won't let us have anything that gets good fuel mileage. Same goes for small Ford diesels, VW's, Audi's, etc., etc.Nearly everyone here has a Ford F150, Chevy 1500 or Dodge 1500, all 4x4, and all extended cab. There are a few Toyota Tacomas which are essentially a gas Hilux that gets 20 m.p.g.Can you all get the Toyota series 70 diesel trucks there. It's said that if they let those into the USA it would crush the domestic truck market here. I wonder what kind of m.p.g.'s they get.Yeh but don't forget,,,our fuel costs around £5 per gallon,,,,,what are you guys paying,,,I bet it's half what we pay If ive got my facts right and calculated it right they are paying a maximum of 45 English pence per litre. Vs our £1 plus a litre. Yearly low has been 36 English pence per litre. I would have a V8 if fuel prices were that low. Lol. I know quite a few guys that mix their own fuel. There are piles of videos on YT that describe how to do it. We're talking diesel, not gas. You can use just quite a long list of oils for this. Piss on the fuel stations you don't need them. Restsuarant greese, crank case oil, old trany oil, brake fluid, and many others. You can render fat and use that as long as you put in a little bit of gas to make it slighty more volatile. One of my sons used to run his landrover on old chip oil that he collected free from fish 'n chip shops. I think he filtered it first or something. I know he always had gallons of the stuff laying round his garage when I took my car round to service. Quote Link to post
Slippery_Weasel 460
I've got a 2 lt ford focus estate. Does around 55mpg on a run and very rarely drops below 50mpg. I'm happy with it, no thrills but it just seems to work! The wife has an a6 estate which does the same mpg pretty much Quote Link to post

Bush Rummager 4,472
Vectra 1.9 cdti 150 estate mapped to about 190. Perfect balance of fuel economy and performance. No doubt thirstier than something like the focus 1.6 cdti or Astra 1.3 cdti but it's a lot bigger than them and still returns really good MPG. Was the same here mate with the Vectra 150 est.Fooking HUGE in the back with the seats down... like a 747 fugilarge!! Carry back plenty of cargo from down Norfolk way!!!! Also a very, VERY quick motor... no 4x4 was going to get me in that fooker! 1 Quote Link to post
