My First Lesson From "the Master" Aka Bigmac

Recommended Posts

I will try to keep this fairly short.

so I had been watching what an amazing job mac's been doing on the stocks recently and I really wanted the grain in my hw100 stock to show as they are pretty dark with stain so I asked him how hard it is and how to do it as I really hadn't got the first clue, or the balls to start drowning my pride and joy in a bath of soapy water then attack it with wire wool etc but mac very kindly said if he lived closer he would come and show me but instead he's let me pester him all weekend as he took me through each stage of de staining and reoiling the stock.

I really can't take any credit for this as I just did as I was told through each stage of macs technique and here are a few pics of the different stages.

Lads like Jimmy are few and far between nowadays and I owe him one for helping me do this.

many thanks for reading.

it will be a long time before I tackle another one...especially a beech stock if the walnut is anything to go by. My bloody nerves wouldn't stand it pal???
