Its pretty straightforward really,..same as with humans,..some folk ya like,..some you fecking don't..   Another thing that we sometimes forget, is that not all dogs,.like us or respect us,....we k

Them Saluki types are "one man" type dogs, mine are grand in the main with me although they can & occasionally do go "nomadic" & do their own thing sticking two fingers up at me in the process

Its strange that certain mutts, that we nurture, educate and enter, hold no hold on us throughout their hunting lives,we view them as part and parcel of our "tools of work",nothing more and nothing less.

Hard to explain. I guess you kind of know that you have a bond. I have always had bitches and I find that I bond better with them. I have a dog now and it's a struggle. Don't know why but it just is. I would put that down to me not him though. He does everything I ask and has had a brilliant first season. By far the most promising dog I have had but I wouldn't say we have bonded. I think it's the sulky saluki in him!! He's growing on me though!!

Can someone explain to me when you have bonded with your dog. Sometimes I think we have bonded sometimes I want to shoot him , please explain

I always felt that the dog will show you when there is s connection,

maybe you'll find he's seconding you or when the dog seems to understand what it's all about and makes himself social to fit with what your doing ,

if ya get my drift

When u can't go in any room without the dog following u and lying at ur feet weather that be to the bathroom or kitchen... U know when it's a special bond if dog doesn't let anyone take it for walks or eat any food but the food u give it no matter how tasty the food is that is a rare bond

When the dog knows his job and knows your instrumental to it , you find you don't need to correct him or coerce him into doing things , where a look or a word influences him , you'll know , it will just dawn on you one day

Having said that it will also depend on how he's treated

I never felt really felt a bond that strong with my dog until a couple of weeks ago when he decided he wasn't going to listen to a thing I said and kept running off he was about 11 months at the time, so I stuck him on the lead for a week and now I feel like we've finally bonded properly and there's no better feeling!

Them Saluki types are "one man" type dogs, mine are grand in the main with me although they can & occasionally do go "nomadic" & do their own thing sticking two fingers up at me in the process lol yet if my eldest lad takes them he says he might as well talk in a foreign language to them haha,I have a good bond with my big Saluki x now,he's on my wavelength,he knows what I expect of him & I of him without saying anything for 99% of the time it wasn't always like this though,I never really took a shine to him as a young dog & I don't think the feeling was mutual on his behalf either lol but by spending lots of time together both in & around the house & out in the countryside we are now best buds..sometimes no matter how much you yourself try to make a bond with your pooch they won't have any of it & this can itself put you in a position where you begin to doubt the dog or take a dislike to the pooch as you believe the dog doesn't really want to be part of what you want/expect of it..don't beat yourself up over it mate, accept it for what it is,enjoy your dog & what he does, take him everywhere you go,in the car,to the shop, have him in the house for periods of time if you have more than one dog take him out by himself on occasions..he will build a bond with you which is acceptable to you both..good luck
