Tiercel 6,986
Some working foxes of John Gaunt. He was a rat catcher on the railway and used foxes as he reconed they were better than dogs at killing rats. TC Edited April 18, 2016 by tiercel

Blackdog92 2,047
Ive seen that first pic before im sure the CMW did a write up about him a couple years ago. It was a good read. My grandad had a pet fox when he was a lad. He said it was never really tame they had it on a wire in the garden that it would run up and down on but it eventually met its maker when he had it on the garden table giving it a stroke and it bit him and his reaction was to give it a wack and it fell off the table to the waiting terriers unfortunatlly. cragman 2,791
Got that top photo of gaunt on my wall. CMW did an article on him years ago and were selling the photo. Interesting

neil cooney 10,416
I've seen a few articles and photos of that man and I've seen him called John Gaunt and John Weldon but I presume it's the first one as it seems the most common. I once read that he said that when the foxes were catching rats they wouldn't drop them and could catch a rat with two already in their mouth.
