Shooting In The Rain

Recommended Posts

Atmospheric pressure changes in the rain, as it does with altitude, heat, cold, fog, etc, all these things have an effect on pellet/bullet flight.

If a pellet/bullet strikes rain it can easily have an effect on the flight.

Well over a maximum of 40 yds,- a lot less," if you`ve any field craft in you" who would give a "flying feck" if it was raining or not ?

Fecking atmospheric pressure, altitude, heat, cold, fog, etc - I`m going for a lye down in a dark room.

No mate, over airgun ranges, "my guess" would be - that Quantum physics and rocket science would conclude - go shooting and enjoy yourself !

For fks !

You need to calm down a bit, like it or not there are many factors that effect where your pellet/bullet will end up, and a lot of those factors include climatic conditions.

If you think Field Craft will help your pellet dodge a rain drop then perhaps you could enlighten the rest of us how.

Nobody said don't go shooting in the rain, etc., you were just told the facts!

Perfectly calm, thank you, Doctor.

I`m sure the fog, rain, climatic conditions take some part but 30 yds to 40 yds shooting, well I cannot say "I`ve noticed a change" - I still don`t miss ( much) at those distances, rain or no rain over the last 45 years.

Feel free to educate me/ others though, we won`t mind.

I thought it entertaining too

I shot feral pigeons from the churches years ago and one spot the Vicar told us to go was a small tower facing the church so as not to be seen by the pigeons.

Anyway it rained many times over the years we shot there, obviously not "downpours" just - rain, with many, many ferals falling to the air rifles approx.` 35 to 40 yds range.

That's all well and good mark in the good old days , but how do you know if a rain droplet has landed on your pellet while in flight ?

Strange really , that would take some working out ,

Just saying like !

It's times like these I wish Einstein was still alive , I'd send him a e@ , lol

Personally I think some are just being fannys. Not directed at anyone in particular and no offence intended. But fannys non the less.

If I looked. I could put up loads of pictures with hundreds of rabbits shot in the pissing down rain. Proper rain  not that fine stuff that gets you wet.

Never had any problems. Pellets hit where they should and did the job.

Only problem with shooting in the rain is water on the lenses.

The avatar picture was taken after shooting in wet conditions.

"Only saying like"

What? From a nice dry hide tucked up in the shelter of a hedge.

Or hardcore out in a downpour with rain seeping down your neck and reaching your nicker line?
