My little Russell x patt with maybe a few other bits has just come into season again. 3rd time in a year it's about every 4 months seems quite regular. I'm not too bothered just wondered how often your bitches come in season?

My brindle bitch has had a very tiny bit of spotting once in 4 years, red bitch is 15 months and hasn't had one yet. Terrier I believe is 12 months around February time but I've not had her that long to confirm.

Is she carrying much weight? I've found that if you keep them pretty lean they won't come into season as often. Might not be true for all but it's worked for me.

Female athletes don't go through their monthly cycles like regular women due to low body fat and altered hormone levels.

Had dogs 30 years Gaz and to be honest the weight of the dogs didn't have any effect on their seasons.

Re the women athletes, probably more to do with the gear they take lol.

Reminds me of the old joke.

Female Russian athlete goes to the doctor and says to him, "doc I've grown a cock,

do you think it could be because of the steroids I've been taking"?

The doc asks, "anabolic"?

To which she replies, "no doc, just a cock."

Lol I like that one.

I'm pretty sure it's called Amenorrhea in female athletes and a lot of research has been done with regards to body fat and hormones/leptin levels etc.

But it may be nonsense and both of mine are just infertile or late starters.

Would be ideal if that was the case regarding the weight Gaz, run them hard and keep them fit all season then when the End of Febuary comes just fatten them up, they come into season in April/May and are ready to go for the start of the season in September, I wish, lol.

I have had a few bitches that when kept real lean and fit wouldn't come into season ... Once I'd taken my foot off the gas and let them have a bit of a break and carry a bit of weight they came into season no problem .......
