tillylamp 1,830
I'd like to throw another sportsman into the mix, now he's still young and twice moto gp champion, mark Marquez is riding a bike this year with many problems and apart from him nobody else seems to be able to handle it but marks talent has let him win two races from 3 so far, now for me that's his talent above the others, what do you reckon??? totally agree mate...........but i think the opening post was more to a sportsman in the uk........but seeing as you mention mark marquez, i think he is the most talented man on a motorbike at the moment, he has been racing and winning on motorbikes from the age of 4-5 years old, he won the spanish title at 8 yrs old on a 50cc bike, then became a gp world champion at 15 in the 125, then world champion in the 250's and becoming a world champion in the premier class at the age of 20 in his first year of trying, also, being the youngest rider to break so many records is unreal, when he was in the 250's he made a mistake in practice which made him start at the very back of the race, bearing in mind, all the bikes were the same, and about 38 riders in the race, he ended up coming through the riders and winning the race...unbelievable, hes one raw talented kid,
WILF 46,867
I used to watch loads of snooker when I was a kid, my old man taught me to add up watching it ! I have not followed it for a good few years as the players became too sterile, no characters. But I can say this with some confidence.....Ronnie O'Sullivan is the most naturally gifted snooker player ever.....he is so good in fact that he dont even care, he can take it or leave it and that is down to the fact that it's just a gift he has and he knows it. If he was a football player, he would be the best the world had ever seen.
Lab 10,979
Pretty much in a nutshell there Wilf. A superior talent made all the better because I genuinely think he feels no pressure. To confidently swap back and forth from left to right have whenever he feels like it is nothing short of genius.
ryaldinhio 4,591
for anyone that is unsure of Ronnies natural talent watch this; https://youtu.be/K-E0MEBdhEc Amazing.
bracken boy 584
I think every sportsman and woman feel pressure, it's how you handle and channel it, I loved a bit of pressure because when you come through a high pressure moment it's the biggest high ever . Lab 10,979
It also turns good sportsman into mediocre ones in a heartbeat. Some folk just can't get through it and some can. If you watch Ronnie he really does have a 'canny be arsed' attitude. I wouldn't mind sticking a heart monitor on him. I mean who takes a the pink on a 147 just because the prize money is not enough...?

gnasher16 30,121
I think every sportsman and woman feel pressure, it's how you handle and channel it, I loved a bit of pressure because when you come through a high pressure moment it's the biggest high ever . For us mere mortals the pressure in sport is that we wont perform to our highest potential.......that we wont produce our natural talent............for someone like Ronnie his natural talent is so close to the surface at all times that he doesnt really have to " produce " it like we do......its already there and overflowing, which is why he can pick up a cue with no practise and perform at such a high level without needing to even think about handling or channelling pressure.............pressure keeps us focussed and concentrated......its because he feels no pressure that he can be easily distracted and lose focus.
