Personally i think when it comes to pure natural talent......as in talent you was born with......Lanesra probably isnt far off.......whether you class Snooker as a sport or not for somebody to just pi

O'sullivan is an absolute genius , his recovery shot while snookered was literally BRILLIANT , he came off 4 cushions to snooker his opponent , the man has to be our most talented sportsman for 50yrs

you sound quite passionate towards the guy, which is fine, but.........i wouldn't say Ronnie is the most talented sportsman that we have had for the last fifty years, nor, as you say, you can't think

Personally i think when it comes to pure natural talent......as in talent you was born with......Lanesra probably isnt far off.......whether you class Snooker as a sport or not for somebody to just pick up a snooker cue with hardly any practise and play at the very highest level right or left handed indicates a talent on almost ridiculous levels.......i remember listening to Phil Taylor say if he didnt practise for a week before a tournament he would get knocked out in the first round.....and that Ronnie is a freak of sport......very few people have dominated their sport like Taylor has so for him to say that about Ronnie holds a lot of weight with me.

very true mate, pure natural talent is the highest level of winning, and ronnie is one of them, my reply was more, to the thought of...i can think of others, whereas lanesra couldn't think of anyone else, my instant thoughts of others were joey dunlop, carl fogarty, david beckham, joe calzaghe, steve hislop, as a few, who all have that pure natural talent and are consistent in what they love to do and make it all look easy, there is no doubt ronnie is up there, but i think the others i have mentioned are on a equal level pegging, as to how they have won so many times, you don't become a champion over and over again without having that natural gift, i totally get what you are saying, i think we are on the same page......in a way......its just that you put pen to paper better than me................lol

No i get what your saying Tilly i agree......i just think theres something very pure and natural about the talent it must take to compete at the very highest level of sport with little or no practise leading up to it.......the examples you gave are all very talented in their own right, made great achievements and like you say consistently produced the goods.................but i bet they trained like f**k :D .......i admire hard work and dedication as much as the next man but natural talent i find so impressive dont you......im told Ronnie o Sullivan once made a 100 break with a broomstick handle :D

I am a massive Ronnie fan and agree with lanesra. We havent had someone as naturally talented at their chosen sport as him.

He made his first century at something daft like 8 years old, first 147 at 14/15, pro at 16 and won a championship at 17 I think.

Who has done anything similar to that?

Id say closest would be Hamilton

I'd like to throw another sportsman into the mix, now he's still young and twice moto gp champion, mark Marquez is riding a bike this year with many problems and apart from him nobody else seems to be able to handle it but marks talent has let him win two races from 3 so far, now for me that's his talent above the others, what do you reckon???

When Steve Davis announced his retirement, that Hazel bird asked one of her typically inane questions of John Parrott, "Why do you think Steve Davis was so dominant in world Snooker in the 80s?"

Parrott's answer was "Because he was better than everyone else."

Practising for 7 hours a day takes some dedication, but then how many of us would work a 49 hour week for the sort of money he used to earn? :hmm:
