Beautiful / Cruel Nature

Recommended Posts

Having a smoke in the back garden chatting to Mrs when my 2 dogs started going nuts under the trampoline in the corner of the fenced garden . Between the 2 of them a young blackbird flies out slightly wounded so I call dogs off and put them inside so me and Mrs can get the young one and get it out the garden . While Mrs is catching the baby 2 adults are half mobbing her . Give her her due she didn't pussy about and got the baby so we took it out on to the lane out back of the row of houses to put it in the school field . Less than 2 metres a sparrow hawk (we think) swings down to try get the chick where upon the parents I assume seing down . 1 of the adults fucks off after its initial scare tactic and the hawk is gone after it and smashes it while it landed on a tree and both fall the the lane in a cloud of feathers . Sparrow hawk on top . Sky goes apeshit with 50 or so birds bombing and making a racket . People in the gardens come out to see what's up . Sparrow hawk shoots off with its loot and I gave chase to see what happens next but I'm not winning that race and lost it within seconds . Birds still going nuts and we go see if the baby is still there . No s

Nature is raw. shame the bunny huggers don`t take the time to watch it rather than protest without any idea of the reality.

So true . I remember hearing Steven fry on QI I think talking about nature and how people assume it's all lovely but in reality animals and birds live their life on the edge of death and on edge at every given point. Think it was something to do with Darwin or something . Stuck with me .

They do know the truth about the cruelty of life itself.

Their argument has nothing to do with cruelty................if truth be known.

Found it back in the garden today , God knows how but he's a survivor with a sparrow hawk around here .

It's weird , when the dogs are dniffing around or were trying to catch it it can only fly a foot off the ground but has somehow managed to get over the 6ft fencing . His wing does look a bit gammy tho

Undecided as to weather to put it out its misery or keep catching and real easing him in the hope he gets better and keeps out my garden
