Bed/boxing Ideas

done the brickwork , drainage and flooring of my kennel, roof is going on tomorow.
was just wondering if any of you lads got any pics or ideas on the best way to set up bedding area in the corner of the blocks before i start doing it.
kennel will have electric to it, i WAS going to have a optional heat lamp over the bedding area still undecided.

Seen some cracking kennels on here that lads have posted up, full of great ideas. Maybe raise the bed slightly off the floor if possible and I see no problem with a heat lamp, keep them warm for the sake of a little extra on your electric, well worth it

I'd build a box with a lid on it ,and have a covered tube heater inside, so as you aren't heating the whole kennel .

Mine hated the heat lamps and used to sleep on the floor to get away from them .

The bulbs wouldn't last either so gets expensive .

If you have more than 3 dogs in a well insulated kennel with plenty bedding you shouldn't need any heat they will generate their own unless it is very cold. I would just put a greyhound kennel coat on the short haired types.

Boris I will , Iv taken loads step by step but until the patio is done and roof on I won't get much time to upload to photo bucket etc.

Guy that delivered roof bits forget foam inserts and delivered wrong boxing the tit so I'm waiting on him but he really is a tit lol

Il add them to here maybe next week majority of it should be finished except galv panels.

But it really is just a 17x8 block kennel with good footings slanted roof, guttering as drainage going under slab to main drain with a centre pillar in the front.

 

Roybo Defo be putting lid on as easy of use, did u put tube heating under the floor of the box?

2x dogs (one rough coat) will be in there.

The extra heating will really only be used when the water bowls get frozen over lol

I put one underneath ,on one box I had and just drilled a few holes under the floor

Only did that as he was a chewer.

Another I done was just screwed on the inside with a cover

think I might put in corner of the box and a bit of ply over it with few small holes in. Seen some with thermostat in.

How big u think a box for two lurchers up to 27tts

Personally I'd give them a box each ,just so they have their own space but a more cube should do it easy maybe a bit less on the width and more on the length dependant on the room you have .

But if they are draught free maybe a flat bed type would be good enough with a tube underneath ,just to take the chill off

I've hidden all the blocks inside and out with ply. The boxes have insulation and are offs the ground and filled with waxed paper..

Nice kennels Giro. Would pass the NGRC inspection if you ever got into the greyhounds.
