There was a ex race horse abandoned in field not far away from here in feb,had to be PTS yet had been sold for good money .

She isn't a typical racer in the fact that the yard she came from had six youngsters in and all were given two or three races each and the best ones kept and the rest mine included were sold. She has done a bit of dressage schooling and a lot of hacking out ... She is very very gentle and a real calm horse ... She rides out with a fairly loose noseband and takes a bit with no fuss so I probably won't need to get her cranked ......

Basically It's a type of noseband that fits tighter on the horse which means you have more control on the horse through the bit ... It's used a lot on dressage horses where they need to be tightly controlled ......

I had a ex racing mare myself ten 15 yrs or so ago.

She was 17 hands ' massive for a mare.

I had 2-3 rideing lessons then just got on her and took her out.

She wasn't a problem

I was gone 4 hours and had folk looking everywhere

A little enthusiastic I was.

We both came back stiff and lathered .

They couldn't believe where I'd been with her.

 

A gentle Giant she was that could move.

 

Vanola was her name .

 

It might of actually been her racing name.

If she wasn't 17 hands your feet would of been on the floor Max haha.. You must be 6ft 6 lol

Me too! Wheels and an engine for me, been thrown off a couple too many times and I don't land as lightly as I did back then, poxy horse shying away at a plastic bag the last time!
