Bsa Lightning Scope Moving??

Recommended Posts

Alright man. With respect, the nikko mount master is pretty gash. Not to mention the lightening. However.

What's actually moving? The scope back and forth, rolling sideways? Generally maxi rails take all general dove tail mounts quite well. Had one doing 15ft lbs, and it was solid as a rock, even with a red dot sight that didn't fit. What mounts are you using?

'pretty gash' ooer

The rear allen bolt on the maxi grip is the arrestor pin. Your rear mount should butt up against this.

Is it the mount or the scope that is moving? BSA Lightnings can give a severe recoil, though this can be reduced by tuning the gun.

Bit harsh Jamie? ;):whistling:

Alright, true enough, the NS Mountmaster aren't exactly the best series of scopes an airgun can have; but the mounts are the key to this problem. They come free in the deal, so you think your getting a bargain to make the scope look like a great deal for your money. Er...No, sorry. It's not. They just threw in a set of otherwise unsaleable junk.:whistling:

Bin the ones that came with the scope they are not up to the job of mooring your scope securely to your recoiling spring rifle.

I'd recommend you buy yourself a set of SPORTSMATCH Mounts and they will fix any movement problems you are currently having. I have an elderly and much beloved, 23 ft/lb recoiling spring rifle and my scope is secure as is possible with these mounts, I can assure you. Never had to buy replacement mounts, for this scope and rifle in 18 years!

They fit with Hex Bolts and wrenches, all included in the pack and are just superbly secure. The rear has a hefty pin which locates into the pinhole/s on your rifle and that arrests the creepback under recoil.

Just don't overtighten the clamps or feel they need to be tightened to the maximum of the clamp bolts grip. EVER! Or they will crush your scope's tube and the scope might never be able to zero if a deformed tube damages the turrets controls. It happens!

Cheap gear in this sport always comes unstuck. It never performs as well as the more pricey, better quality kit and the solution is always to end up buying again a second time, only more expensively to replace the "bargain" you thought you had!

If you are not sure about anything to do with setting up your scope just ask

Anything to do with kit or rifles you like the look of, ask freely here.

Rez will tell you straight and to the point if it's a winner or not!:tongue2::laugh:

Save you a lot of money and headaches though Jazmin ;)

Cheers guys. Its the mounts themselves moving along the rail thats the problem. They are the ones that came with the scope.

You could start by checking they are tight, regardless of the quality they should stay put.

If this fails, as already said, replace them!
